You need to remember, though, that anyone can be sensitive to anything at any given time. If you believe you've identified a food sensitivity in yourself or someone close to you, consult a doctor. Your doctor can refer you to an allergist who can frequently perform quick and simple tests to discover whether the suspect item, by itself or in combination with other substances, is indeed affecting you.

It isn't always the substance currently getting the most publicity that's causing your allergic reaction, and it's unwise to assume this is the case without getting expert medical advice.

For example, you might think you're allergic to a particular food because you have a reaction most times you eat it. But you might usually eat that food at a particular place - a restaurant, cafe, workplace, friend's home - and your reaction could be caused by, for example, cleaning chemicals used in that place, or a particular domestic product there, or a pet, and so on. Or vice versa: you might think you're allergic to a friend's perfume, when actually you're getting a reaction from something in a store you stop at on the way home from their place.

It's normal to notice only the times you have a reaction, and completely forget about all the times it doesn't happen, so you need to take all possibilities into consideration, especially in the rare event of severe reactions.
