According to what the doctor told my son (who had it, unbeknownst to us), "It is a disease of childhood, and if one makes it to adulthood without having been bothered by it, it will never bother you at all".
Yes, it does. And it gets worse as you age. I have it. I had it since I was a young child. I didn't know why I was having these pains in my knees. I didn't know the reason until I went to a knee specialist and found out for myself what I had. As an adult, it gets worse. I don't know if it's genetics but it could be. I've been told by doctors to just take Tylenol or Aleve and the pain will go away. It doesn't work. It doesn't matter how many pain killers you take, the pain never goes away.
Its about 5K. Give or take a thousand depending on where you are.
There is really no time limit to how long Osgood-Schlatter Disease will last. It will go away when your growth plate closes. For girls, doctors say the growth plate will close a year- a year and a half after their period. Until then, rest is basically the medicine.
Dai Green is an Olympian and World Champion hurdler. He was diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter disease as a teen. Osgood-Schlatter is an irritation of the patellar ligament and is characterized by painful lumps just below the knee and is most often seen in young adolescents
An cold ice pack before you do p.e or sport will help
Depression, technically it is now considered a disease and could cause being suicidal therefore could kill in 2 weeks. My point is any disease could kill you in 2 weeks depending on it's effects on you. Many disease cause problems that could lead to death eg osgood schlatters (the bone growing faster than the muscle, basically extreme growing pains) can cause weakness in the legs which could cause falling over. If you fell and hit your head you could die. No disease is guaranteed to kill you in 2 weeks but and disease could kill you in 2 weeks. Bu that's not what you wanted me to say so to make you happy, lung disease could kill you within 2 weeks if you were run down as pneumonia can be caused by lung disease
Osgood schlatters disease is in fact worse than Achilles hell much worse
Osgood Schlatter Disease is a genetic disorder
none
Calcium supplements (from your chiropractor or elsewhere) are not a treatment for Osgood-Schlatters disease.

Yes you can if of course you can swim and it isn't swelling. And if you can tough out the hurting by the tenderness.
Osgood Schatters Disease is a painful illness. It is caused by a boney bump under the knee cap that connects to the shin. It is common in young people and seems to lessen with pain over time.
I got diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter recently, and the doctor said that swimming is one of the best things for it, as it's a non-weight-bearing sport. Try to avoid kicking, running and jumping, and these agrivate it, and put a pack of ice on. Type in 'What is osgood schlatters' to the top 'question' bar, and find more information, that i wrote, about it xxx
Yes, depending on the specific knee brace you get. as a sufferer of osgood i have found a knee brace to help me. i suggest you go out and find one or talk to your doctor for a good fit for you. It will help.
My son has just been diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatters. His doctor has given him the go ahead to play soccer. His treatment is as follows: stretch prior to games and practice ice after games and practice wear a brace during games and practice take advil for pain if pain becomes severe he should stop the activity and rest Other information that I have come across on Osgood-Schlatters indicate this is the preferred method of treatment.
