I can't answer that, but I know that osteoporosis can be treated with optimal levels of vitamins K2, and D3, and high levels of magnesium, and calcium. Try pharmacies & supermarkets for the magnesium supplement types shown in http://www.real-depression-help.com/magnesium-for-depression.html or magnesium chloride. Some other minerals are involved, as well, but my memory fails me. Go to: http://www.mercola.com SEARCHBAR "osteoporosis". From memory, Dr. Mercola does not recommend the medications normally prescribed for osteoporosis, for reasons he explains, but check this out. If female, a short course of Hormone Replacement Therapy may be helpful; discuss with a doctor. ---- Opinion only: The course of osteoporosis can be divided into four stages with the fourth stage beginning as early as age 55 with fractures accompanied by chronic pain and deformity. This is one of the major reasons people are admitted to nursing homes. Although osteoporosis is debilitating, it does not affect life expectancy. I came across two web sites that discuss osteoporoses in detail. The first link web site is called Medline Plus and the second link is called Information about Osteoporosisand both links are displayed directly below this window.

Yes it does, Osteoporosis (Brittle Bone Disease) cannot be cured. It is caused by bones losing their density becoming more like a sea sponge than the solid pipe they should be. A calcium deficient diet in childhood & adolescence sets up a high chance of developing Osteoporosis earlier than the general population.

Calcium is leached out of the bones & they cannot be repaired. Calcium supplements are needed to prevent further density loss & the resultant "Widows hump" caused by repeated stress fractures to the spine.

High consumption of carbonated drinks is thought to be a big contributor to the high incidence of younger & younger women developing Osteoporosis so lay off the soda & fizzy drinks & have some milk instead.

BTW just as many men get it as women so guys get some moo juice too.

What was the life expectancy of American soldiers in World War 2?

The life expectancy of the servicemen depended on the job position the service person had. For instance if you were a ball turret gunner your life expectancy was three hours. If you were a General you were expected to live to see the end of the war or at least get close to the end of the war. If you were a nurse or doctor you could expect to live through most of the war but if you were a "medic" or rather an army corpsman you had a life expectancy of 3 hours too.

What effect did industrialization have on life expectancy in the US and Western Europe?

In the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, life expectancy plummeted due to filthy living conditions, dangerous working conditions, etc. However, in the later years of the Industrial Revolution, people began to improve their sanitation of themselves and the city, jobs were reconstructed to be more safe, etc. which all led the life expectancy to regrow to the highest it had ever been. Basically, in the beginning of the I.R., life expectancy was higher in the country than in the city, but was vice versa at the end of the I.R.
