Some TV's come with a `cable card slot` built in. That means they already have the cable tuner box built in and all you need to do is get a cable card from the local cable company and plug it into the slot on the TV. If not, yes, you'll probably need one for movies, PPV and other features. A lot also depends on how the cable co. is sending their signals and what's required for access to certain programming packages. If you do have a cable card slot, it could easily take all night for a TV to have the card programmed, so be prepared not to watch your TV for awhile.
