Does removing the belt that drives the air conditioner compressor on a 1993 Hyundai Accent cause any problems with the operation of the vehicle?

[Edit]

Answer

If it doesn't drive anything else, I'd say no. I personally wouldn't do it. The parasitic drain on the engine of an idling pulley without the compressor engaged is probably less than .1 HP.

That and not running the compressor for extended periods of time can give you AC leaks because the seals can 'dry out' when not spun for a long time. I turn my AC on once and a while during winter just to prevent this.
