Elena does not become a vampire because Bonnie finds a spell which can save her but it means John (her biological dad) dies.

Since Damon got bitten by Tyler he gets very sick and has illusions about Katherine.

Stefan finds a cure which is Klaus' blood but to do that he has to join him and become a ripper again.

Damon and Elena finally kiss not knowing Stefan isn't coming back.
