I have used stop leak in my coolant tank and master cylinder and it has worked for both. However, it is a temporary fix. It will stop the leaking for some time but eventually you will most likely need to repair whatever it broken. But I would definitely give it a try because it did hold up for nearly 3 months before it got to the point where I had to replace it.
Yes, had the problem myself. The power steering pumps leak on the very often. Stop leak is a quick but not a permanent fix.
Have you tried STP brand stop leak for Power Steering!
I need to know how to replace the hoses on my power steering system. I also need to know what type of hydraulic fluid and steering fluid it takes?? If my head gasket is bad and I put stop leak then why is it still overheating?? Where is the water going!!!
Why would you put power steering stop leak in an automatic transmission in the first place? You obviously don't know what you are doing. Take it to a professional!
try using power sterring stop leak, if they doesnt work, find out what is leaking, and replace the worn hose or broken seal
Depends on how severe the leak is. If it is a bad leak at the pump, then you more than likely need to replace the pump. If it is leaking severely at a hose, the hose needs replacing. If it is a very minor leak, you can try a PS stop leak, such as Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak. This may or may not stop the leak.
That means you have a leak. Eventually your power steering will fail (no longer have power assist) and your pump will burn up. You can put some power steering fluid plus stop leak (all in one) in it, but I would also recommend that you crawl under the car and look for the leak.
The only way to stop a power steering leak effectively is to located and repair the leak. This most often occurs at the seals which break down over time and allow fluid to pass by.
save your money and buy some power steering stop leak. otherwize it depends if its the power steering pump or just one of the hoses.it could range from 125 to over a thousand depending on your vehicle
It will most likely fail again. The Lucas just softens and makes the seals expand to help seal the leak. They are usually on temporary.
No. The power steering is in no way associated with the transmission. If it runs low, your steering will get stiffer and you might ruin your power steering pump (making steering very stiff.) It will harm the trans if you add it to the trans fluid.
If the power steering rack is leaking, it is likely an seal or a gasket. Replacing the seal or gasket should stop the leak.
