Not to my knowledge - Christianity teaches peace and love towards other people.

It actually says the opposite, to turn the other cheek, not to pay back evil for evil etc.

In short, No.

The Bible says that only one male and one female should be married.

Another view It is a common fallacy that the Bible disagrees with lesbian and gay people as we would know them today. Sadly homophobia is rife within some denominations of the Church, but only by those who are prejudiced against homosexuals and use the Bible to somehow back up their claims and to give them a sense of authority.

Actually, the Bible has little to say about being gay and nothing about a loving homosexual relationship as we would understand it today.

There are three main references in scripture. The references in the Levitical Law can be dismissed, as Christians are not bound by Levitical Law or else men would be circumcised and pork would be forbidden. Also, the Levitical Law was engaged with the need for the Jewish race to thrive and multiply and so homosexuality would hinder this procreation. Those who cite Leviticus as 'proof that God hates gays' totally fail to realise that they are adhering to this 'law', while conveniently ignoring the other laws on food, clothing, circumcision, ostracism of menstruating women and so on, that come just a few verses before. Such cherry-picking of scripture is wrong.

The only other main references are those of Paul in two of his letters. Both letters have been grossly misinterpreted by those prejudiced against homosexuals in order to lend credence to their beliefs. In the letter to the Romans Paul condemns those who shun their natural sexuality in favour of unnaturalsexuality but this verse is usually interpreted by some as indictment of homosexuality - but as well as it condemning straight people indulging in homosexual relationships, it can also refer to homosexuals forced into heterosexual relationships too, as Paul's statement is very general. So here, there is no indictment against gay people whatsoever.

The second reference comes in another letter of Paul. In one of his letters to the Corinthians Paul does not condemn homosexuals but those whom he refers to as 'arsenokoi' ( in the original Greek) or homosexual pagan temple prostitutes. You have to remember that Corinth in those days was a den of vice, and many pagan cults were rife there, some of which used male prostitutes in their temples. In the verses there Paul condemns those who purport to be Christian but still indulge in pagan practices with these prostitutes. The context makes it clear that he was more concerned with paganism than homosexuality.

Apart from these, there are no other explicit references to homosexuality at all, and certainly no references that suggest that a loving, committed same sex relationship as being wrong.

I am not trying to go against The Bible but that is just silly. I mean I am proudly gay and I even have a boyfriend. But the most religious person I know goes with everything The Bible says and he just was happy that I told him. But you know what is funny I asked the same exact question to him and he just said that that is not true and he was glad I was happy. So if you are worried you can't tell someone because of that reason, just don't be and express your true self and I'm not trying to be like all the other people who give you advice but your not different to who you were before you came out. So just tell who you want to tell and be who you want to be. Trust me I know from experience, just be happy and live your life.

Answer 1

  • Yes,
  • the Bible allows killing gays. In much of the Bible, especially the Old Testament, there are laws that command that people be killed for absurd reasons such as working on the Sabbath, being gay, cursing your parents, or not being a virgin on your wedding night. In addition to these crazy and immoral laws, there are plenty of examples of God's irrationality by his direct killing of many people for reasons that defy any rational explanation such as killing children who make fun of bald people, and the killing of a man who tried to keep the ark of God from falling during transport.
  • There are also countless examples of mass murders commanded by God, including the murder of women, infants, and children.
  • It is said in the Bible: "If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)
  • Refer to link below for more information.

Answer 2:

"Gay" doesn't have the same meaning in the Bible as it does in today's society.

"...ye have respect to him that weareth the gay[magnificent] clothing..." (James 2:3 KJV).

Nor does the Bible advocate a "vendetta against gays" as a result of someone disliking someone; like for "being gay," snoring or chewing with your mouth open.

Our Creator, however, is openly against man's "sinning" [disobeying His Laws - I John 3:4]. That is, He's not shy about informing man, created in His image, to OBEY HIS VOICE -- the same thing that's been the issue since Adam and Eve "opted for another god to worship and obey" in the beginning.

The "killing" that's recorded in the Bible, alluded to above, has been going on since Cain became angry with his brother and shed the first drop of the blood that forever after is required to "purge our sins" before God.

"...nearly everything was purified by sprinkling with blood. Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins." (Heb.9:22 NLT New Living Translation)

But, make no mistake... in this godless world that hates God and His Word... this world fraught with more than enough misery, suffering and evil due to its endless sinning... a world that is in no way, shape or form being "led by God's laws"... or that even recognizes God and His laws: God is not "allowing" or commanding people to go around "killing gays."

But, also make no mistake... that when God returns to earth as its King and restores His Kingdom to the earth, and begins His ABSOLUTE REIGN OVER THE EARTH -- He is NOT going to tolerate any disobedience to His laws that man has seen fit to ignore throughout his errant, evil rule on earth.

The "reason" God commanded "His people" under "His rule"... amid the mortal nation of Abraham's children that "He was establishing" to do any "killing" [whether it was killing people of the evil nations around them or if God Himself killed disobedient, evil people of HIS OWN NATION] -- it was to PURGE EVIL FROM AMONG HIS PEOPLE, that they might be afraid and learn NOT TO SIN.

Few people consider "sin" these days. Few think know or understand that all the misery, suffering and sorrow in the world is BECAUSE OF OUR SINS -- BECAUSE OF THE EVIL WE DO!

"Now the LORD observed the extent of the people's wickedness, and He saw that ALL THEIR THOUGHTS were CONSISTENTLY and TOTALLY EVIL." (Gen.6:5 NLT)

Few people CARE or know or understand that when God returns to the earth, He is going to ALLOW His angels to KILL PEOPLE. It won't be a pogrom against "gays"... but:

"I, the Son of Man, WILL SEND MY ANGELS, and they will REMOVE FROM MY KINGDOM EVERYTHING THAT CAUSES SIN and ALL WHO DO EVIL, and they will THROW THEM INTO THE FURNACE and BURN THEM. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matt.13:41-42 NLT)

Jesus Christ is man's CREATOR! [see John 1:3] The Potter has every power over the clay, to keep the good and to destroy the bad, as he chooses. He and His Father are in the process of creating the Family of God... creating Divine, Immortal Children who are "obedient to His Laws."

The "God Family" will be PERFECT! They will know all ABOUT SIN... but they shall have learned through the experiences of this life NOT TO SIN.

"The the Godly will shine like the sun in their Father's Kingdom. Anyone who is willing to hear should listen and understand!" (verse 43)

"That is the way it will be at the end of the world [age of man's rule on earth]. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the Godly, throwing the wicked into the fire... Do you understand? 'Yes,' they said,, 'we do.'" (verses 49-51)

Contrary to too many religions and religious views... God is not calling for men to KILL ONE ANOTHER [or to kill anyone they don't like]. The wicked god man chose in the beginning has been doing that throughout his generations.

God is calling His people [those who "Love His Laws" - see Ps.119:97] to FORGIVE ONE ANOTHER! He's calling His people to Obey Him. He's calling His people to "repent" of their sins and to "turn to Him for His Mercy, Forgiveness... and the REMISSION OF THEIR SINS" [Luke 24:47]. He's calling His people to "learn not to sin" -- so that they might LIVE... not be killed, as the penalty for sin has always required.

Answer 3With full support to Answer 2 above, it is said in the Bible: "If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB). This means that gays or homosexuals shall be put to death according to the Bible.

Additional Comments:

When reading the Bible, one must put everything in context. God's first purpose was to bring Israel into the Land of Promise to become a 'model peoples' for the rest of the world. But the land of Canaan was filled with people who practiced many abominable wickedness - from sacrificing their own children (first 7 verses of Leviticus 20) to having unnatural sexual acts, to eating wrong foods. Because Israel was a carnal people, not having the gift of God's Holy Spirit, and because they had been raised in an oppressive pagan culture in Egypt, they would be tempted to syncretize and "borrow" pagan elements in their worship of God. This, of course, was completely unacceptable to God.

Leviticus 20 then contains a condensed form and repetition of the laws of sexual morality. The laws regarding sexual relations are repeated, but the emphasis is on the punishment and the enormity of the crime. Within all of Israel, the Law of God - walking in His Ways - following the Laws of God was expected. No one was to make an exception and the penalty was strict and erased the wrong amongst the peoples so no others would go astray.

Yes, it has been interpreted that way. Luke 19:27 tells us that Jesus says, "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." This passage was only part of a parable about a nobleman, but it was used as an excuse in later centuries to kill anyone who would not be a Christian.
