The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) expects it's members to be 'honest in all things'. However, the Church has no power to dictate what Mitt Romney does, he acts for himself. If Mitt Romney were to lie, that would be his choice, but he would not be considered a member 'in good standing' by his church if he were to lie. [To be 'in good standing' in the Mormon church means that you are eligible for certain leadership positions and special Temple ceremonies. Mitt Romney would have to confess his sin to God and his Bishop before he could be considered 'in good standing' again.]

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) has a very strict policy of political neutrality. They never comment on or support any candidates or campaigns. The Mormon church has said nothing about Mitt Romney's campaign except to acknowledge that he is a member of the Church.

Does the Mormon religion have certain sectors of cults within it?

Not within it, but there are groups that have split from the church that are outside it. The Reorganized church was one. There were "Rigdonites" for a while, who split off after an early member, Sidney Rigdon. Many polygamous groups claim to be associated with the church, although they also are outside groups. Within it, there are are of course people who believe in different causes, or who all read the same publication, or whatever... but if they believe in something contrary to the church, and start actively advocating it, they risk their membership... which is why splinter groups are outside the church. If you stray from the gospel too far, you can't be inside anymore without lying to your church leaders.

Who is the son of Mitt Romney who threatened to punch out President Obama?

That was Tagg Romney, who was interviewed on a conservative radio program and made the comment that when he heard the president "lying" about his father, he wanted to punch him. It should be noted, however, that a few days later, at the conclusion of the next presidential debate, Tagg was on stage with the president and issued an apology, which the president accepted.

Do Mormon church leaders swear by their religion so they don't get labeled as a cult and lose their tax free status?

No. The Mormon Church is not legally recognized in many nations and is therefore not a tax exempt organization in those nations. Whether or not the church is tax-exempt makes no difference to church leaders because they are not paid a salary of any kind. The Church seeks to be legally recognized so that they can perform marriages, own their church buildings, etc, not because they don't pay taxes. Mormon church leaders and members honestly believe that their religion is true, they aren't lying and inventing a religion just so that the organization they belong too can save a few dollars. Additionally, by the definition of a cult (a group of people venerating or worshiping a common object or having a common leader) defines every religious group. Mormons are no more a cult than Catholics, Methodists, or Presbyterians. They don't live on compounds or keep their beliefs secret from others, like most 'cults' do. Tax exempt status in the United States is not determined by the doctrines or beliefs of a particular group, but whether they meet other guidelines which define them as a legally registered religious group.

Do the mormons own walmart?

No. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) has never done business with Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is a publicly traded company (symbol:WMT) its majority holders are the Walton Family, the children of Sam and Bud Walton, the founders of Wal-Mart. Individual members of the Mormon church are welcome to own stock in Wal-Mart if they desire, but the Church itself has nothing to do with the store.
