A male squirrel makes the nest as the female collects food however it is rare that we see males and females together as it is mostly the female that is in the nest and the male is usually somewhere else as they can have many females to look after. Even though a squirrel is not a pack animal, they still have an alpha males however the males females do not necessarily nest in the same tree or the same area.
