Does water4gas really work? |
[Edit]
The amount of hydrogen generated by such a device is trivial, apart from the fact that it takes more energy to make hydrogen by electrolysis than it creates.
Some people have claimed that in the United States you can claim an alternative energy credit for this device. Doing so is a sure way to get you in TROUBLE WITH THE IRS (if you are ever audited) since Water4Gas and other such HHO devices are well known scams, and do not qualify for such a credit.
The primary goal of this scam is to "hook" you with free instructions for the creation of the electrolysis cell, and then sell you documents and devices to actually "make it work", as no one actually sees an improved fuel economy with JUST the electrolysis unit. The most common device promoted is something to "enhance" the mass airflow sensor or oxygen sensor. These "enhancers" fool the engine into thinking that it is running in a fuel rich condition, such that the engine injects less fuel and runs in a fuel lean condition. This actually does improve fuel economy, but at the costs of engine damage and increased pollution.
