Does your homeowners insurance cover you if you are injured on someone else's property? |

Answer
Most States set the wording on their Homowners policy. So differences do occurr. However , every homeowners policy that is a Broad Form (Not just Fire EC,stated perials) That has a Liability an Medical Payments section to it, The MEDICAL payments it is refering to, are for those people who visit you, and are hurt on your home premises. You and anyone who normally lives at that address are not covered . The homeowners policy is not a family medical policy, even for an accident , where you or yours are injured. The people visiting are...because as the property owners ..we are liable for their injuries even if we did nothing to cause it. ( Aunt Sally falls on porch...nothing caused it...Noone's fault , she still collects because it is inside the lot we own.) Even kids running across others yards in normal subdivision...falls down , breaks arm...you owe if he falls in your yard. Telling them to stop, signs KEEP OUT, your insurance will still pay the medical. If you are in someone elses property, and you or family member are hurt...they owe the medical for you...if they had a hole in the yard and Didn't have it marked so you would not fall or step in it ...they could be liable for neglegence, even though they meant no harm. The Liability is always the higher coverage...compared to medical.
