While there may be quite a few, I'd have to ask you several questions first. Those are:
What type of surgery?
When you say hypotension, do you mean to the point of gangrene?
I could surely research or answer from my own knowledge base if I had more to go on. with that information.
The one drug that comes to mind would be dopamine. Dopamine's effect on circulation is twofold, depending on the dosage. Small dosages cause vasodilation (blood vessels expand- which could cause hypotension), medium dosage will increase cardiac output, while larger dosages will result in vasoconstriction. resulting in elevated blood pressure.
This is actually my first day here, so I don't know if you can provide that info for me.
I AM NOT a doctor!
Vasodilation can cause hypotension
Because the drugs in this group may cause hypotension, or low blood pressure, they should be used with extreme care in combination with blood pressure-lowering drugs.
Hypotension in surgery refers to the intentional lowering of the patient's arterial blood pressure during the procedure. Lowering blood pressure has been shown to reduce blood loss and the consequent need for transfusions.
The prognosis for people who have orthostatic hypotension depends on the underlying cause of the problem.
not sure
Hypertension can cause vomiting, diarrhea and fever.
by di receptor stimulation
General anesthetics cause a lowering of the blood pressure (hypotension), a response that requires close monitoring and special drugs to reverse it in emergency situations
This low level can be a cause of hypotension.
Some prescription medicines have been known to cause postsurgical scarring or flecks under the corneal flap after LASIK.
It depends on where the surgery will occur.....
Medications that can cause orthostatic hypotension include Tricyclic antidepressants, antipsychotics, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, antihypertensives, diuretics, vasodilators, Levodopa, beta-blockers (heart medications), and blood pressure medications
