An estimated 1,030,000 casualties were suffered throughout the bloodshed that changed the face of America forever. (this was approx. 3% of the United State's population in 1981 prior to the first battle.

Of these, there are various estimates as to how many were Soldier's ranging from 620,000 cas, 750,000 cas, right up to as high as 850,000 casualties by some accounts.

This wasn't particularly a large loss in population, but the reasons for fighting and the resulting killing and battles demonstrated the disconnect the confederate states felt they had when legislation was written miles away, with no other means of demonstrating concern, these brave, young men took a bag of black powder of their back, dressed in the uniform of the side he would defend and make a solemn walk to the firing line to the very place he likely dreaded for the days following up to this first of many confrontations.
