Solid waste has hazardous effect on the environment including every living thing.it does not only pollutes the land but also affect indirectly living beings. solid waste also somehow moves into the rivers, affecting large number of aquatic organisms.
Many things every day ranging from ordinary rubbish to old newspapers, packaging, cleaning materials and many different kinds of junk effect of waste on the environment. Large quantities of pesticides and fertilisers are also leached into the environment from farms, for example. Large volumes of the gaseous, liquid or solid wastes produced by manufacturing and other industrial processes are also quite legally released. These emissions are only partially controlled by pollution control methods.
There are many harmful affects including: Loss of vegetation and plant life, loss of animal life, and mutations off species over time,( including humans.)
The book Environmental Science by Tyler Miller has a great deal of answers for the above question and many more. I think you should have a look at it.
Non toxic wastes are wastes that do not pose a serious threat to the environment or animals if decomposed carefully. Some of the solid wastes are generated due to domestic activities such as food leftovers ,fruit and vegetable peelings, bits of paper and other rubbish often stored in dustbins .The waste produced by shops, offices, restaurants and schools do not pose a serious threat to the animals, plants or to the environment. Such wastes are called nontoxic wastes.
Toxic wastes are very harmful to the environment. They kill organisms, change the environment, create acid rain, and pollute water sources.
example of solid waste
National Solid Wastes Management Association was created in 1962.
