about 20-40 yards. depending on what kind of thompson. the more modern one can shoot probably about sixty yards effectivley, but the prehistoric one can shoot maybe thirty yards.
It depends on the gun! artillery can be fired from 10-20 miles away and some sniper rifles can fire 2-3 miles but a shotgun has a maximum range of about 50m.
