Reddish color facial tone...this is from broken capillaries usually around the nose on the cheeks first, then spreads to entire neck and shoulders/chest - from years of alcohol abuse. Broken vessels in the eqophagous (throat) cause vomitting of blood, this is called esophageal varices. It can be deadly. The ends of the vessels can be cauterized, but the problem comes back if drinking doesn't stop. Long term alcoholic's bodies can have a hard round belly. Looks like a Basketball inside. This is acites. Excess fluid in the abdomen. Another affect on the body is jaundice - yellowing of the white part of the eyes. Also, long abusers suffer from congitive impairments from the excessive build-up of amonia in the brain. Also stools can become greyish in color. Apetite is suppressed, weight loss is common. You can spot an alcoholic by the reddish color of face/neck, distended belly, and / or less-than-normal whiteness in eyes.
