Here is a good egg drop project that is lightweight and will not break when dropped:

Here's What You'll Need: An empty water bottle (plastic), REALLY SHARP Scissors, Scotch tape, Bubble wrap (about two feet long for extras or mess-ups), Egg.

How To Make the Project: Take the Water Bottle and cut it in half with the scissors, then cut the bottom of the bottle about 2 inches and keep the bottom and the top with the lid. Take off the lid and tuck in the bubble wrap about 2 inches in the top of the lid. Then cut 2 1/2 inch (on all sides) of bubble wrap and cut about a 4 1/2 inch (on all sides) of bubble wrap. Take the egg and wrap it in the 2 1/2 inches of bubble wrap FIRST!!!!! Then wrap the egg in the 4 1/2 inches of bubble wrap. Take the end of the bottle with the lid and put the egg with the bubble wrap in it until all the bubble wrap is in the half-bottle. Then take the bottom (2 inches long) and turn it around so that the inside faces outward and fit it in the top half with the egg, then take the Scotch tape and put it so the bottom is secure. Then your all DONE!!!!!You have a small, lightweight egg drop project that will not break when dropped!!!!!Trust me, I have tried it and it works very well!!!!! then you go to the bathroom and take a big ole duecerr.

Is the egg drop project a 8Th grade science project?

yes, this is usallualy done by eighth graders who build a box out of different materials and drop them from their school bleachers, then they unwrap their boxes to see if their egg survived.

How are scientists creative?

because they need to be able to think outside the box otherwise they will have trouble as a scientist. thinking outside of the box is part of there job. If they don't be creative then they can't come up with real scientist ideas.

What do you research for an egg drop science fair project?

Here is some useful physics: Just before the egg's package hits the ground, the egg has some speed (depending on the height from which it is dropped.) You want the egg to change its speed to zero as slowly as possible. That is, you don't want it to go from 20 miles per hour to zero miles per hour in 1/100 second. You want it to slow down gradually. (This is because it takes more force to suddenly change the speed of something than to gradually change its speed, and we want the least amount of force possible exerted on the egg.) Maybe you know the equation F = ma where "F" is force, "m" is mass, and "a" is acceleration. Now, here is a second idea: We would rather the egg not bounce back up from the padding material. That is because if it bounces back up, changes its speed from downward, to zero, to upward. (This is further acceleration.) What material would help us achieve these results? A spring would allow it to slow down gradually, but it would bounce it back up. Various other things are possible, like crumbled up paper or Styrofoam packing beads or foam rubber. The idea is that you need to EXPERIMENT. That is what physics is. Trying things out. The reason that you won't be able to find the answer to this problem on the web is that there are many possible answers, depending on the restrictions that are placed on the experiment. For example, can I pack my egg with two feet of padding all around or am I limited to a few inches? How far will I drop it? I suggest that you set some restrictions, like limiting the size of the box to maybe 6 inches on a side. Then pack the egg in various materials and try it from ever-increasing heights, starting from a foot or two. Once you find what seem to be the best two materials, you should make several tries with each material. Take good records of everything you do so that you can describe it accurately when you are finish There are a number of things, but most importantly, the egg should NOT BOUNCE. Bouncing is the process of kinetic energy going from something into the surface it is hitting and then being returned to the thing. You want the kinetic energy transferred OUT of the egg, since this is the energy that will break the egg.

Can a egg float on salt water?

yes the egg can float on salt water because salt has more density than an egg. The egg less density so it is denser and can't brake threw the salt water. AANNDD,,Because the density of the egg is higher than the density of tap water, so it sinks. Density (ρ), as shown below in Equation 1, is the mass (m) of a material per unit volume (v). For example, the density of freshwater under standard conditions is approximately 1 gram (g) per cubic centimeter (cm3). In other words, if you filled a 1-cm x 1-cm x 1-cm box with freshwater, the water inside the box would have a mass of 1 g. Adding salt to the water increases the density of the water, because the salt increases the mass without changing the volume very much. With enough added salt, the saltwater solution density is higher than the egg's, and the egg will then float. Equation 1:mρ = vρ = Density in whatever units are used for mass and volume.m = Mass in grams (g), kilograms (kg), or any other unit of weight.v = Volume in centimeters cubed (cm3), meters cubed (m3), or any other unit of volume.

What materials will protect an egg if dropped?

Aluminum foil because that is the only substance that can hold more than 200,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 space particles and an egg dropped from a certain height can absorb 5 space particles less than the Aluminum F.. In the end you get an uncracked egg.

How do you not break an egg?

By securing it in foam, and then in a crate or box made of a hard substance. Or use lots and lots of bubble wrap. It's what one of my cousins used for his egg drop experiment

What is the best way to package an egg so that it will survive a two story drop?

Surround the egg with protective material such as foam peanuts, bubble wrap or popcorn. in addition, you want to put it in a box, and weight the bottom, so that the egg always lands the same way

What are some good ideas for an egg drop?

hey, i did this in school..... what some people did were some very creative models: 1. an eagle with a para shoot so it can stay in the air 2. a box nicely designed full of bubble rap and soft tissue 3. a normal para shoot 4. an aeroplane with the egg in the passenger seat hope this comes in help have fun making your model and good luck

I need an egg drop design that can only be made with paper and tape.?

Cheat by boiling the egg :) But, If you dont want to cheat, try this. Make a box out of paper. Make it fairly large, but not too big. Now, fit a cylinder in the middle of the box. MAKE SURE THE EGG CAN FIT INSIDE THE CYLINDER. Also, make sure the cylinder is stuck down good, and in the middle of the box. If it's not in the middle, it won't be weighted quite right. Now, rip paper into strips and crumple it up. Stuff as much of it as you can in the tube, still allowing room for the egg. Now, tape more crumpled paper to the top of the box, in case it flips over. When you place the egg in the box , make sure it is in the tube, and that you put some of the paper on top of the egg.

How do you make a egg drop capsule less than a pound?

There are many, upon many different types of egg drop capsules that you can create. What I do, is I use some drinking straws for the outer layer, to keep the box light, and it won't bounce as much. As of the inner-layer, I use some packing peanuts, yet leave a small hole leaving for the egg. Make sure that there are some space remaining when the egg is in, so the impact isn't extreme.
