Though television lawyers are seen mostly in court, most lawyers never see the inside of a courtroom. Only about 5% of those admitted to practice law actually engage in litigation. Law affects every human endeavor, and legal training can be applied to nearly any job. There are hundreds of categories in which lawyers practice. Private industry, government work and individual law practice provide employment oppurtunities for lawyers. Someone holding a law degree and bar admission is limited only be his imagination and area of interest. One of the best things is that even in difficult times, a lawyer can nearly always find work. The important thing is to find an area that holds interest for the individual. To get some idea of the diversity of oppurtunity, go to any lawyer referral website. These sites have pull down menus showing areas of law. Look at those menus, and then choose an area. Another place to look would be at the career services sites of law schools.
