The nickname of the flag of the United States of America is "Stars and Stripes". "Stripes and Stars" is incorrect.

Stars have different colors because it depends on the age and temperature. There are yellow, red, white, blue or blue-white and orange stars.

Its temperature, its mass, and its luminosity. Its size, nor distance have nothing to do with the colour of a star, bar maybe diffusion through additional materials when viewed from Earth.
