A hypothesis must be testable and able to be proved false because it is an educated guess based on other facts connected to the hypothesis. It must be testable so other scientists can agree with the hypothesis. It is not able to be provable because it is an educated guess.

What is the purpose of a conclusion?

to explain why the data support or reject the hypothesis

True or false- if false please fill in the blank Unlike a scientific theory a scientific hypothesis describes an observed pattern in nature without attempting to explain it replace hypothesis?

it is false!

Is it true that biologists discover problems by observing the world around them?

Yes. Observation leads to the identification of a phenomenon or problem, and scientists would then try to formulate a hypothesis to explain the phenomenon or solve the problem. Then the scientist would devise experiments to test the hypothesis. Should the hypothesis fail, the scientist can formulate the new hypothesis. If the hypothesis holds, more experiments must be done to verify it. Only when a hypothesis is tested by many experiments by many people can it be called a theory.

Every hypothesis must be tested Do you agree or disagree Explain your answer and give an example of a hypothesis?

I don't agree that every hypothesis MUST be tested. In order to advance to the status of a scientific theory, a hypothesis must be tested. Otherwise it remains a mere hypothesis. But some hypotheses are beyond our present capacity to test. Hypothesis: there are technologically advanced alien civilizations in our galaxy on planets other than the Earth. Method of testing: explore the galaxy in space ships. Except that we don't really have any interstellar space ships (it's hard enough just getting to the moon!) and the process of exploring the galaxy would be so expensive and so time-consuming that we really could not afford it in our present economic state.

What are the 6 steps in a power conclusion?

1. Thesis- "The purpose of this invertigation was.." 2. Hypothesis- "I thought that…If…Then…because…" 3. Answer the TQ- "I found out that… 4. Answer hypothesis- "My data does/does not support my hypothesis because…" 5. Observations- "My data showed that…" 6. Explain Results- "I got my results because…" "The reason _ happened was…" and "I think _ happened because…" 7. Errors- "I think _ could have affected my results because…" 8. Future- "In the future, I would like to…"

Why is a hypothesis important in research?

To form an experimentally testable idea to explain observations.

What is a testable hypothesis to explain how trenbolone acetate causes testicles to shrink?

You could say that this will happen when it gets cold. You can then test it out with willing participants, having some in the cold and some in the heat.

What are requirments for creating a proper hypothesis?

A proper hypothesis is one that has at least a superficially reasonable quality to it, it has some plausibility as an explanation for whatever it is that you are trying to explain. If it is obviously ridiculous, then it does not qualify as a proper hypothesis. In addition, from a scientific viewpoint a hypothesis should be testable in some way. If there is no way to test your hypothesis then what you are doing is philosophy, not science.

Is forming a hypothesis is the same as solving a problem?

No To form a hypothesis is an attempt to explain something just by your own thought (could be anything, but typically an observation, phenomenon, or some other scientific problem). To be a "valid hypothesis" the hypothesis should be testable (typically through empiric investigation) ... and it probably shouldn't sound outright absurd (from a scientific POW) ... depends. ... hope that helps.

What is the relation between a hypothesis and theory?

A hypothesis is a tentative theory which is unverified, but if true could explain selected facts or observations. A hypothesis expresses an opinion which isn't necessarily based on provable evidence. A theory is a little more solid than a hypothesis, so a hypothesis when tested and proved to have some basis might become a theory. A theory might also refer to a belief with little or no fact behind it at all: he has a theory that the month in which people are born affects their personalities.

What is m-m hypothesis?

Hypothesis? Hypothesis is a proposal intended to explain certain facts or observations

What is a hypothesis that does not explain an observation?

When you are using the scientific method, you would try to imagine a hypothesis which explains an observation, but you might not succeed. A hypothesis that does not explain an observation would be considered a failed hypothesis. You would then need to invent a different hypothesis.

Did your data support your hypothesis?

so you have to put in did it help you explain your hypothesis

What is a simple definition for hypothesis?

A hypothesis is an idea or a suggestion, often to explain something whose cause is unknown. In formal science, a hypothesis is a testable statement. Performing an experiment to test the statement should either support the hypothesis or prove it false.A hypothesis is an educated guess for the outcome of your experiment (for the solution of your problem)

Explain the role of a hypothesis in a scientific investigation?

A hypothesis is a scientist's first, educated guess at the solution of some problem, e.g., why did this chemical reaction occur?, or, why does the Sun do such-and-such? A scientist tests the hypothesis in an attempt to refute it, and the hypothesis that survives all such tests becomes the reigning theory in that branch of science, e.g., relativity theory, plate tectonics, natural selection, etc.
