Does planned parenthood give out the morning after pill?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

All Planned Parenthood offices provide access to the morning after pill. Some offer it for free, all offer it on a sliding scale to their patients. In our area, Planned Parenthood provides free levonorgestrel morning after pills through a grant to their established patients, male and female, age 17 and over, and offers it at $25 for nonpatients. In addition, some patients have health insurance that covers over-the-counter medications, and they can get the morning after pill at their pharmacy at no cost with a note from the health care provider at Planned Parenthood. Call your local PP office to find out what programs they have for providing affordable contraception. See related link to access information on your nearest PP health center.

How old does one have to be to acquire birth control pills at a planned parenthood clinic without parental concent?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It very much depends on where you are located. Usually doctors cannot share information with anyone outside of you, but if you are under the legal age of consent for sex, chances are they will have to.

My advice (and yes this is sneaky but works): Start claiming you get very bad cramps. If you're home and have your period, be barely able to move. Tell your parents you want to see the doctor to see if there is anything you can do about the horrible cramps. Once at the doctors, tell the same thing. They will most likely prescribe a birth control pill for you.

This way, your parents know, but the doctor suggested the pill to relieve the cramps (not you asking for the pill so you can be sexually active), so they more than likely will not be worried.

Does planned parenthood give birth control for free?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

they don't usually "give them out" but you can go to your local health department for a urine test just about anytime you think you may be pregant. most are free but sometimes it depends on the persons income.

Pregnancy centers offer pregnancy and often STI testing for free to anyone, regardless of income, and also help with material needs if you are pregnant, parenting classes, adoption assistance, and usually ultrasounds. Go to optionline.org, call 1-800-712-HELP, or text "HELPLINE" to 313131 to find a pregnancy center near you.

What does a visit to Planned Parenthood cost?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depends on which test you want since they each have their own and the test procedures are different;

  • physical exam - they look at your genitals and/or your anus for any signs of an infection, like a rash, discharge, sores, warts. For women, this exam can be like a pelvic exam.
  • blood sample - they take a blood sample, either with a needle or by pricking the skin.
  • urine sample - you will be asked to urinate into a special cup.
  • discharge, tissue, cell, or saliva sample - they use a swab to collect samples that will be looked at under a microscope.

See the related link to a clinic near you and ask them for the price of the test you want done.

What was the original purpose for planned parenthood?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To help poor people with birth control. The bigger the families the poorer they were and that made it impossible to get out of poverty. Margaret Sanger provided that along with sterilization. It made the women being in control more and they could plan their lives. That also led to that more children could go to school and get a education. it's the same thing Planned Parenthood does today all over the world along with services that did not exist then or was illegal back then.

What affect does Planned Parenthood have on the government?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Federal law prohibits federal funds including Medicaid funds, from being used to pay for an elective abortion. In cases of rape, incest and saving a woman's life though they do. But they have never done it for abortions on demand. That has never changed which is why funding abortions is wrong reason to defund PPL since they don't do that.

Do you need an adult to go to Planned Parenthood?

You can go to Planned Parenthood anywhere and not have to have a parent with you. Teens can come in without parents permission and everything is confidential. The only time they need parents is if they are getting an abortion. State law requires a parent signature on the paperwork.
