User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I was looking at one of Fords websites and it shows :

For a 1965 Ford Mustang , 3.3 liter / 200 cubic inch inline six cylinder ( .035 inch )

For a 1965 Ford Fairlane , 2.8 liter / 170 cubic inch ( .035 )

For a 1965 Ford F-100 , 4.9 liter / 300 cubic inch inline six cylinder ( medium duty is .030 and light duty is .035 )

So. without knowing which model and engine size it looks like ( .035 inch spark plug gap )

My car will not start but it makes a clicking noice when i try to start it. what is wrong?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If the starter is clicking, that's a good sign. Replace the battery and make sure you didn't have a drain on it. This problem could be caused by several things, but a weak battery or bad starter solenoid would be at the top of my list of things to check.

Hey Kulwant==It is probably the idle speed motor not reacting when a load is placed on the engine. Sometimes you can remove them and clean them and they will be ok. GoodlukcJOe

If your 1996 ford windstar cranks but won't start what could be the problem?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I hear that the problem is the pressure to the fuel pump. Also have heard that the alternator is the problem. To be honest, I cannot figure out why mine will not start either. I have replaced the fuel filter, O2 sensors, thermostat, reset the inertia switch, and spark plugs and wires.... nothing has worked yet.

I have had the same problem, 2cd Explorer. I replaced the fuel relay. No problems now

What is the purpose of the starter?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A device that initiates a flow of high voltage across the electrodes of a fluorescent lamp.

Answer

Fluorescent Lamp Starter

A fluorescent tube has a heater at opposite ends of the tube. These are connected in series with the supply via a 'starter' (a small, heat-operated switch). When the tube is first switched on, current flows through the heaters which then act to ionise the gas within the tube. Once the gas is ionised, it begins to conduct and illuminate the tube. At this point the current flow through the heaters can be discontinued. This is done by the 'starter', a heat-operated switch, which opens a few moments after the current begins to flow. This arrangement is called a 'starter circuit' for a fluorescent tube.

Motor Starter

But there is also a 'starter' for an electric motor. Many motors cannot be started merely by connecting them to the supply. This is because, on starting, many motors demand a very large 'starting current' which reduces as the motor begins to turn. A motor 'starter' is used to restrict the amount of starting current until the motor runs up to speed.

How do you know what's wrong if your truck clicks when you try to start it then it finally starts?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

These answers by mechanics about dead batteries are amazing me. I am a girl...really into cars because I have had a few. I just had this problem in my 1989 classic Saab. The problem is your starter...The clicking sound means that the pin inside of the starter is not projecting itself and thats why when you turn your key you hear a clicking. Get your starter tested

What is wrong with your home AC that has freon but is not blowing cold air?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Check the AC fuses. There's usually two sets. One at the electrical box and another set at the compressor in a wall mounted box. There may be two of them and one of them blew out. The other possibility is that the compressor/fan motor start capacitor is bad. Sounds like the furnace fan is running but the compressor isn't.

Other item to check is to make sure that you have the thermostat actually set on AC. A lot of times people will flip the switch thinking they're turning the AC on only to find out they just turned on the fan switch.

User Avatar

The first thing that I would check is the wiring and the temp sensor @ the engine. Sorry but I do not know where the sensor is located on the engine. Usually they are not too hard to locate. i would replace temperature sender usual located near front of engine near thermostat housing

What do the markings on a household electrical fuse mean?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

all fuses are rated for several things voltage, amps, interupping capacity (IC) in addition they are divided into various feature and size types; most types are designated by a combination of letters which varies by brand, but most firms make equivilent types. Some examples are "FRN" "NON" "FRS" "KTK" "LPS" "FMN" Typical household fuses are rated 250 volt, 10,000 IC The smallest are usually 15 amps and the largest are usually 100 amp (at the service) Some are "time-delay" for motors, and some are plain - "time-delay" is one of the special features I mentioned There are large special fuses that can cost upwards of $3,000 each, but not for a house.

Where is the onboard computer on a ford windstar?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

computr locationit behind the inde cowling cover next to the gas pedal?

I'm not sure, but i think the windstar (99) has two seprate computers, one is on the fire wall, and one is in front of hte passenger seat, under the glove box

the pcm is under the wiper cover on the pass side i just replaced one.

It is on the right-hand side and is only accessible from the engine bay. You have to remove the plastic cover against the windshield and remove the metal windshield wiper assembly. It is not difficult.

Why does my Low coolant light stays Smoke blows through ac vents when ac is off and the engine is at normal running temp?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Most cars will not run hot if the radiator is a little low. It sounds like you may have a pin hole in your heater core (coil) and the stem could be coming through your vents. This should have some smell to it. Most cars will not run hot if the radiator is a little low.
