Where can we find out the worth of a sword that appears to be from the napoleon era?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To determine the value of a sword from the Napoleon era, it is recommended to consult with antique dealers, appraisers specializing in historical weapons, or auction houses that deal with antique militaria. Factors such as the sword's condition, historical significance, and provenance can all affect its value. Conducting thorough research on similar swords that have been sold in the past can also provide a rough estimate of its worth.

How much is a 1901 Carl Gustafs Stads Mauser rifle worth?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Prices vary depending on condition. The rifles seem to bring between $250 - $700 depending on aspects of condition. Serial numbers on all parts should match, Stock Barrel (both lower and upper sections), Action, All Bolt Parts down to firing pin, barrel bands, rear sights (3 pieces) butt plate, magazine floor plate, etc, etc, etc. Over stamped numbers don't count except for someone who just wants a shooter. Stock disk should have no markings in the smallest pie section, the lower the number stamped the better. Barrels worse than a 3 were replaced. These numbers are relative today as the tags were put on in the 40's. A lot has happened since then. Stock should be free of dents and not altered (original finish). The barrel should be shiny when viewed from muzzle. Rifling should be clean and deep, free of pitting, or frosted appearance. Cleaning Rods seen to be a non issue, but if your's matches... add to value.

Most average looking rifles with #2 barrels go for $300-$400 if they are matching and clean.

Walther p38 ac43 value?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Value of ANY firearm is dependent on EXACT make, model, condition, and originality. A wartime P-38 with the Nazi Waffenampt markings, in excellent condition, may be valued in the $1000 range. A poor specimen with damaged markings, wear, or (shudder) chrome plating may be worth $100-$200. You will need a hands on appraisal from someone that knows Nazi firearms. Sorry-

Shortest war in history?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The shortest war documentated is the "Anglo-Zanzibar War", which lasted for 45 minutes.

Year Fought: 1896

Between: British Empire vs Zanzibar

Outcome: British victory

The Anglo-Zanzibar War was fought between the United Kingdom and Zanzibar on 27 August 1896. With a duration of only 45 minutes, it holds the record of being the shortest war in recorded history. The war broke out after Sultan Hamad bin Thuwaini, who had willingly co-operated with the British colonial administration, died on 25 August 1896, and his nephew, Khalid bin Bargash, seized power in what amounted to a coup d'état. The British favoured another candidate, Hamud bin Muhammed, whom they believed would be easier to work with, and delivered an ultimatum ordering Bargash to abdicate. Bargash refused. While Bargash's troops set to fortifying the palace, the Royal Navy assembled five warships in the harbour in front of the palace. The British also landed parties of Royal Marines to support the "loyalist" regular army of Zanzibar. Despite the Sultan's last-minute efforts to negotiate for peace via the U.S. representative on the island, the Royal Navy ships opened fire on the palace at 9 am on 27 August 1896 as soon as the ultimatum ran out. With the palace falling down around him and escalating casualties, Bargash beat a hasty retreat to the German consulate where he was granted asylum. The shelling stopped after 45 minutes. The British demanded that the Germans surrender the erstwhile Sultan to them, but he escaped to sea on 2 October 1896. He lived in exile in Dar es Salaam until captured by the British in 1916. He was later allowed to live in Mombasa where he died in 1927. As a final act, Britain demanded payment from the Zanzibar government to pay for the shells fired on the country.

Where can you get an AK-47?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

AK-type rifles can be bought at gun shops and gun shows wherever not prohibited by law.

Another good source is online firearm dealers and auctions. Their prices are sometimes lower, but you also have to add in the cost of a transfer fee if you have the gun shipped to a local dealer.

Note that true AK-47 guns are classified as machineguns (as they are capable of fully automatic fire), and are NOT purchasable by civilians in the United States, unless the gun in question was made before 1986 (the date of the ban) and the new owner has obtained the required machine gun license from the Federal Government (machineguns are licensed by the Federal government, not state governments).

"AK-47" guns being sold to the U.S. civilian market are either look-alikes (which fire semi-auto) or originals which have been modified to allow for semi-automatic fire only.

How much is a world war2 helmet worth?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Not much, usually. The GI helmet was starting issue in 1942 or so, and continued to be issued til the mid-1980's. I see them at gun shows for around $20. Now, if you have one of Patton's old helmets, the price goes up. Aank! Wrong. The WW2 helmet is different from the ones used in Viet Nam. A good collector can tell the difference. The earlier helmets had two unique items. The thing band of metal around the bottom edge had a seam that met at the FRONT of the helmet. Later in WW2, this seam was changed so it was in the REAR. Earlier helmets had fixed bale that the chin strap was attached. Meaning it was welded to the helmet. Later helmets issued in WW2 had swivel bales that were loose. A nice example of a helmet with original paint are now selling for close to $100. If they have a nice liner or a painted marking, such as red cross or such, that can sale for >$150. German WW2 helmets that still have some paint and the insignia on them are in the range of $250. German paratrooper helmets go for $800 or much higher. Japanese WW2 helmets can still be bought for around $300 but their value is rising very rapidly.

I don't know if this counts as a sniper rifle but the Russians had some hand-held anti-tank rifles that had very long barrels. But the modern sniper rifle is a .50 caliber like these anti-tank rifles were. Russian 14.5 mm antitank rifle PTRD-1941

Overall length: 78.7 inches

Barrel length: 48.3 inches http://www.rt66.com/~korteng/SmallArms/antitank.htm The Germans also made some Panzerbüchse ("Tank Rifle") rifles. The PzB 38 had an overall length of 161.5 cm.

What is the value of a 1901 bayonet with US on one side and 1901 on the other in a metal sheath?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Hello, I personally have the same knife which I am going to sell. The same knife with a leather sheath is for sale on ebay $250 buy it now firm. It does have some rust and in worn condition. Between ebay and paypal there is a 12% fee and shipping will be about $7-8. That means if it sells the seller will get about $210. (not bad). However it is buy it now so it may never sell for that price. A dealer might offer you between $50 and $100 in worn rusty condition. This is assuming it is hard to get into and out of sheath but still manageable. If you are selling DONT accept the first offer. Counter offer for a much higher price and see where it goes. If it is shiny and very good condition you may be looking at $200-$250. I hope that this helps.

Dont take to a pawn shop but instead a military memorbalia dealer. You can find one on google.

God Bless

How old do you have to be to buy a sword?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

over 20. that depends on if it is a ornament or a sharp blade, i am 18 and own a Roman gladius mounted on my wall. If you are looking to buy a ornament i recommend royal armories, they are cheapest i have ever seen, DO NOT BUY off the internet because say if it from America, theree are different laws. for example you need to fill out a form in Britain stating this blade will be checked yearly (for safety)
