To turn a small dress into a plus size dress would be extremely difficult. You would have to find a great seamstress who would know how to incorporate extra fabric (which must be matching) into the dress to make it look natural. Not easy to do even for an experienced person.

How do you know you need stitches?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Determining whether you need stitches involves assessing the severity of a wound. Here are signs that may indicate stitches are necessary:

Depth of the wound:

  • If the wound is deep and extends beyond the top layer of skin (epidermis) into the underlying tissues, stitches may be needed.
  • Wounds with jagged or gaping edges may also require closure.

Size of the Wound:

  • Larger wounds may need stitches to promote proper healing and reduce the risk of infection.
  • If the wound is longer than half an inch or an inch, especially on visible parts of the body, it may require stitches.

Location of the wound:

  • Wounds on joints, such as knees or elbows, or areas that move frequently may benefit from stitches to prevent the skin from pulling apart during movement.
  • Wounds on the face, especially if they are deep or involve the lips, may need stitches to minimise scarring.

Bleeding:

  • If the wound is bleeding heavily and the bleeding does not stop with direct pressure, stitches may be necessary to close the wound and control the bleeding.

Foreign Objects:

  • If there are foreign objects, such as glass or debris, embedded in the wound, medical attention is needed to clean the wound and potentially close it with stitches.

Wound Shape:

  • Irregularly shaped wounds or those with uneven edges may require stitches for proper closure.

Cleanliness of the wound:

  • If a wound is difficult to clean or has a high risk of infection (such as bites), stitches may be recommended to minimise infection risk.

Time Since Injury:

  • Delayed treatment of a wound may reduce the effectiveness of stitches. In general, wounds that are closed within the first six hours have a lower risk of infection.

If you experience any of these signs, it's advisable to seek medical attention promptly. A healthcare professional can assess the wound, determine whether stitches are needed, and provide appropriate care to promote optimal healing. If in doubt, it's better to consult with a healthcare provider rather than risk inadequate wound closure and potential complications.

How can calculate woven bottom fabrics consumption?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Mathematical consumption:

To do this you have to have sample/ below measurements in hand:

Waist = 32 inch
Hip = 44 inch
Thigh = 26 inch
Bottom = 18 inch
Length = 42 inch

Sewing allowance to be added 2 inch

The general formula:

Width =(Waist+Hip)/2 + (Thigh+Bottom)/2
=(32″+44″)/2 + (26″+18″)/2
=60″

Length = 42″

So total requirement is = Length X Width
= 42″ X 60″
= 2520 sqr inch

Let’s assume the width of the fabric role is 56″

so, 2520″/56″ = 45″
= 45″/36″
= 1.25 yrds ( 1 Yrd= 36″)

So per doz. it will take = (1.25 X 12)+ 3% = 15.45 Yrds.

What is the difference between a horizontal sewing machine and a vertical sewing machine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It relates to the orientation of the hook (the part under the bed that catches the top thread to create the lock stitch) to the needle. Horizontal machines often have a 'fixed' bobbin case that the user doesn't remove, and utilize a drop-in type of bobbin, whereas vertical machines have removable bobbin cases that the user must insert the bobbin into, then insert the filled bobbin case into the machine.

Horizontal bobbins usually hold a lot more thread and make it easier to replace the bobbin without having to remove the work, therefore you will commonly find this type in industrial applications.

How do you cut a 90 inch round table cloth down to a 70 in round table cloth?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Since round table cloths are measured on the diameter, not the circumference, you would fold it in half twice, measure 35 inches (half of 70) from the center of the cloth, add 1 1/2 inches for the hem, and that is where you start your cut.

You don't measure up from the bottom because you can't be sure if they added the hem before or after their measurement.
