Chimpanzees

Both species of chimpanzees are in the genus Pan. The most recognized and commonly referred to species is the Pan troglodytes, or Common Chimpanzee, which lives in West and Central Africa. The other, the Bonobo or Pygmy Chimpanzee, or Pan paniscus, lives in the forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
