What is the cost of building a Sprint Cup Car?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

$250,000 may buy the car but it will not take you racing, in order to compete in 1 race it will cost roughly $1,000,000.00 after you factor in things such as a pit crew, crew chief, tires for the race ( up to 16 sets per race at a cost of $350-$450 each). Not to mention the tractor trailer to get the cars to the track ( yes I said cars as in 2 because you have to have a backup car ). So to tell the truth I am not sure you could go racing with just 1 million dollars, I guess that's why they call it a rich mans sport!

Is a Sprint car faster than a Nascar race car?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A Nascar stock car would be faster, because a sprint car is normally driven around a small dirt track. So I doubt that sprint cars exceed 200 mph.

How can you make your race car go faster?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If you mean- accelerate faster.. you need to increase the horsepower or lighten the car. If you mean top speed, most cars are limited and a programmer/cpu is the only way around that.

For Horsepower:

engine programmer can be a good bang for the buck

cold air intake

under drive pullies or replacing clutch fan with a electric fan

tri-y or full length 4 into 1, shorties are a waste$$ for most newer cars

cat back exhaust, but newer cars don't pick up as much as older cars

from there on it gets expensive, involved....

turboes

superchargers

cam/intake manifold/(rr if a push rod motor)

ported heads/hi-po heads

stroker kits

Lightening is cheap(for the first few pounds), but most don't want to:

remove the-

back seat

spare tire/ junk in the truck

insulation/carpeting

passenger seat or replace both front seats with race seats

radio delete

light weight rims

carbon fiber/fiberglass- hood, fenders, deck lid

also changing the

ring/pinion gear

higher stall torque converter

can help with drag/track et.

All you have to do is floor it or put NOS as in nitrous in your car.

What is a micro sprint car?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A micro sprint car is just a miniature sprintcar. Usual powered by a motorcycle engine.

There are 2 of the biggest type of micro's the 250/270 engine based off a 250 dirt bike engine. and the 600cc class with a slightly bigger frame and some bigger heavier parts. powered by a 4 cylinder 4 stroke street bike engine. Depending on the area some places run them with or without a wing and run on gasoline or methanol.

Here is a video of a 600 micro sprint running on methanol at Susquehanna speedway 4/10th mile dirt track.

Can you use race fuel in your street car?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Many do, but they have highly modified engines, to use racing fuel in a stock or standard engine is a waste of money, manufactures design most engines to run on regular gas (97 octane), compression determines what octane should be, as a rule of thumb.

What is Boundary lubrication?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Boundary Lubrication (sometimes referred to as thin film lubrication) is a condition in which the lubricant film becomes too thin to provide total separation. This may be due to excessive loading, speeds or a change in the fluid's characteristics. In such a situation, contact between surface asperities (peaks and valleys) occurs. Friction reduction and wear protection is then provided through chemical compounds rather than properties of the lubricating fluid. Boundary lubrication often occurs during the start-up and shutdown of equipment or when loading becomes excessive. This condition can commonly be observed in certain types of gear sets that need to withstand sliding pressures and shock loading such as hypoid gear sets found in automotive differentials.

It's hard to find, so I personally suggest buying online. If talking about the energy drink then pretty much any convenient store like 711 or something local should still have it.
