Where does the quote Courage Camille come from?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The phrase originally comes from Alexander Dumas' 1857 play Camille: The Lady of the Camellias in which Monsieur Duval tells Camille, "Courage, Camille, Courage."

Also, "Courage Camille" is a game in which three players are required. Two of the players face each other and lock hands. The third person stiffens and falls backwards into their arms. This should be done several times, with the person falling farther backwards each time (the players locking their hands should lower them each time). Other players can then try.

Also, a line masterfully delivered by Bob Hope as radio personality and craven muckraker Lawrence Lawrence Lawrence in the 1940 horror-comedy The Ghost Breakers. It is also used in Pynchon's 2006 novel Against the Day, on page 345.

What is Cecil Jacobs costume for the pageant in to kill a mockingbird?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Before the pageant, Cecil Jacobs scares Scout and Jem while they are walking. That helps set up the incident that occurs after the pageant because when Bob Ewel is following the kids, Scout thinks that it is only Cecil Jacobs trying to scare them again. If Cecil Jacobs hadn't scared the at the beginning of the pageant than Scout would of been more frightened and might have been more careful with the noise she was making so that the person following the kids wouldn't of been able to follow as easily.

What religion is old mr radley?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

He was a "foot washing" Baptist. He is part of a religion that has a strong belief that any and all pleasure is sin.

What are some examples of how religion can hurt rather than help people in To Kill a Mockingbird?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Some examples of bad parenting in To Kill a Mockingbird are when Bob Ewell beats Mayella Ewell especially. He also lets his children run free, doesn't keep them clean, and doesn't get them the food or supplies that they need. Instead, he drinks his life away. The Cunninghams could also be considered bad parents, because their children are very dirty, and not allowed to accept charity, when they really need it. I also think that it is bad parenting that Mr. Radley kept Boo in the courtroom cellar for so long.
