Under 1 ounce, one stamp - 41 cent stamp currently (April, 2008) The distance traveled does not matter, it is the weight and size of the envelope. Guidelines can be found at www.usps.com. If it is a "normal" letter, it's just regular postage: $.41.

Can you take lighter fluid from one lighter and put it in a zippo?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

im not sure if you mean taking the fluid from a regular lighter and putting that into a zippo or just simply zippo to zippo but I'll answer both.

I wouldn't recomend putting normal butane lighter fluid into a zippo because it runs out really fast and makes the flame far too big to be practical.

if you want to change fuel from one zippo to another simply remove the insert, peel back the first felt layer, take out the cotton from inside and putting that cotton into the other zippo.

hope that helped :)

Could you use alcohol as a substitute to zippo lighter fluid?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, vodka (at 40% alcohol) has too much water in it. Everclear (75%) may work and everclear @ 95% will work the best. It still won't light as easily as zippo fluid but it'll work; if not, let your zippo dry out and you'll be all set to try something else.

Does zippo lighter take the same lighter fluid as a bic lighter?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No. Bic lighters -- and most other throwaway lighters -- use butane gas, which liquefies under modest pressure. When struck, the pressure tank is opened and the butane vaporizes and travels through a small orifice, or jet, to the spark wheel. Zippos, of course, use a naphtha-based liquid lighter fluid and a woven textile wick, which conducts the fluid to the spark wheel.

How do you change a cigarette lighter on a Toyota Avensis?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I am replacing the factory radio in a '97 SR5 4runner, the lighter does NOT come off like a Normal lighter. Usually, they just twist/unscrew and voila! This one has plastic tabs that need to be accessed from behind the trim. I fully removed the trim (due to radio install) and STILL broke a small plastic tab off the retaining clip while trying to remove the lighter. Bummer, but no one will see and it doesn't affect normal operation! hope this helps. Very easily follow instructions to remove the stereo (Crutchfiled.com). The 12v plug (lighter socket) is attached to the center housing (usually black on all 4Runners) has two electrical plugs to the back of the lisghter socket: one for the 12v feed, the other for the green illumination lamp. The lighter socket itself will twist out and a replacement lighter socket can be purchased at a junkyard or local dealer.

Where is the fuse for the cigarette lighter on a 2009 Nissan sentra?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

1st: Locate the fusebox, usually under/behind the instrument panel (where your knees would hit the dash)-(see user's manual for exact location) sometimes located under the glovebox.

2nd: On the inside of the fusebox cover you will find the reference for what fuses do what. If the fuse for the cig lighter isn't labeled specifically, look at the Accy, or Assy, fuse. (Accessory).

3rd: Actually look at the suspect fuse. You should see a break, or gap in the metal band that runs through the fuse. (This band is usually "S" shaped).

There should be extra fuses somewhere in the fusebox, or on the cover, if not, go to the Auto Parts store and buy them.

BE SURE TO REPLACE THE BAD FUSE WITH ONE OF THE SAME SIZE !!!

The fuses are labeled according to their ampacity.

There will be a number on the fuse; usually 10, 15, 20, 30. This is the current rating of the fuse.

Hope this helps,

I own a 2006 Dodge Stratus, and I also had a problem with my cigarette lighter socket. I located the exact fuse by accident the other day.

-The owner's manual DOES NOT specify a fuse for the cigarette lighter.

-The internal fuse box cover DOES NOT specify a fuse for the cigarette lighter. (This fuse box is located below and to the left of the steering wheel. Access by opening the driver door, then pull the cover off to reveal the fuse box. The fuse diagram is under the cover.)

-The fuse for the cigarette lighter is located in ANOTHER FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD next to the positive (red) jumper cable terminal. Remove the cover by pinching the tabs inward. The cigarette lighter fuse is a 20 amp fuse on the bottom row.

How does a windproof lighter work?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The wick of the Zippo is made of non-flammable fibre and is wrapped in braided copper wire. Cotton wool, or similar, is packed around the wick in the body of the lighter. This cotton wool is impregnated with lighter fluid.

When the Zipo is struck, the wheel grinds sparks off the flint which ignites fuel that has soaked up the wick. The fuel impregnating the wick heats until it becomes a gas, at which point the environment flashes over and the gaseous fluid ignites. Heat from the flame travels down the copper braiding into the impregnated wool heating up the fuel. The fuel vapourises and improves the flow of fuel up the wick. Pressure inside the lighter also forces fluid and gasses from the inside of the lighter out through the opening.

This is partially why Zippos are so windproof.

How do you fix a broken cigarette lighter in a ford fiesta mk5 Is is simply a matter of changing a fuse?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Make sure the wires are connected to the cigar lighter. If they are, is there any power to them? If not, check the fuse. If there is power and it still won't work, then the lighter itself may be burned out. Try a different lighter in your socket to see if it works, or buy a replacement lighter/socket assembly and install it.
