Rudyard Kipling was born in 1865 in Bombay India. At the age of six he moved, with his sister, to Portsmouth England for school. At age sixteen he returned to India and remained there until 1890. After marrying Carrie in 1892 they moved to Brattleboro, Vermont living there for four years. In 1896 they relocated to Devon England and although the family traveled extensively Kipling made England his home until his death in1936.
He published his 1st work at age 23 (1886). It was a collection of verse titled Department Ditties.
The Jungle was written in 1906 by Upton Sinclair. In an attempt to raise "social awareness" it contrasts the corruption of the meat-packing industry with the appalling conditions and day-to-day hopelessness the "lower classes" work and live in. Upon publication, (after 5 rejections) the Jungle became an instant best seller and has never gone out of print.
I believe Nag is male, and Nagaina is female. They are the cobras in the garden from Rudyard Kiplings story 'Rikki Tikki Tavi' (also the Disney Cartoon). Also, Nagaina makes the plans and is smarter than Nag. Nag just does what she tells him to and is less smart.
