3 tips for giving a good speech?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Giving a good speech can be a challenging but rewarding endeavor. Whether you're speaking in front of a small group or a large audience, here are three tips to help you deliver an effective and memorable speech:

Know Your Audience:

Understand who your audience is, what their interests and expectations are, and what level of knowledge they have about your topic. Tailor your speech to their needs and preferences.

Consider the demographics, interests, and values of your audience to make your message more relatable and engaging.

Use language and examples that resonate with your audience, and avoid jargon or technical terms that may be unfamiliar to them.

Structure Your Speech Effectively:

Start with a strong opening to grab the audience's attention. This could be a surprising fact, a compelling story, a relevant quote, or a rhetorical question.

Organize your speech with a clear structure. Typically, a good structure includes an introduction, body, and conclusion.

In the body of your speech, use a logical flow of ideas. Each point should build on the previous one and support your main message.

Use transitions and signposts to guide your audience through the speech and make it easier for them to follow your train of thought.

Conclude your speech with a memorable closing statement that reinforces your main message and leaves a lasting impression.

Practice and Rehearse:

Practice your speech multiple times before the actual presentation. Familiarity with your material will boost your confidence and reduce anxiety.

Practice in front of a mirror, record yourself, or rehearse in front of a trusted friend or family member who can provide feedback.

Work on your delivery, including your tone, pace, and body language. Make eye contact with the audience and use gestures purposefully.

Time yourself during practice to ensure that your speech fits within the allotted time frame. Being concise is often more effective than being overly verbose.

Bonus Tip: Manage Nervousness

Most people experience some level of nervousness before giving a speech. To manage this, practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, visualization, or mindfulness.

Focus on the message you want to convey rather than your fear of public speaking. Remember that your audience wants you to succeed and is interested in what you have to say.

By knowing your audience, structuring your speech effectively, and practicing thoroughly, you can increase your chances of delivering a compelling and successful speech.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Apparently their annual income can fluctuate from $50,000 per year to $500,000 per year, becasue it is mostly a commission based salary, and its where you do it. Phoenix/Mesa, or Tucson 10 years ago, would be booming in this field, during the recession, a developer in that area, is probably living off of reserve, since it has tempoarily slowed down quite a bit.

What role does government play in creating and enforcing auditing standards?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

·

Organizational independence allows the audit activity to conduct work without interference by the entity under audit. The audit activity should have sufficient independence from those it is required to audit so that it can both conduct its work without interference and be seen to be able to do so.

·

A formal mandate. The audit activity’s powers and duties should be established by the government’s constitution, charter, or other basic legal document. Among other topics, this document would address procedures and requirements of reporting, the obligation of the audited entity to collaborate with the auditor.

·

Unrestricted access. Audits should be conducted with complete and unrestricted access to employees, property, and records.

·

Sufficient funding. The audit activity must have sufficient funding relative to the size of its audit responsibilities. This important element should not be left under the control of the organization under audit because the budget impacts the audit activity’s capacity to carry out its duties.

·

Competent leadership. The head of the audit activity must be able to effectively recruit, retain, and manage highly skilled staff. Moreover, the chief audit executive should be an articulate public spokesperson for the audit activity.

·

Competent staff. The audit activity needs a professional staff that collectively has the necessary qualifications and competence to conduct the full range of audits required by its mandate. Auditors must comply with minimum continuing education requirements established by their relevant professional organizations and standards.

·

Stakeholder support. The legitimacy of the audit activity and its mission should be understood and supported by a broad range of elected and appointed government officials, as well as the media and involved citizens.

·

Professional audit standards support the implementation of the previous elements and provide a framework to promote quality audit work that is systematic, objective, and based on evidence. Just as many governments have adopted internal control standards — either as requirements or guidance for public sector managers — audit activities should conduct their work in accordance with recognized standards.

Construction of portfolio for collective investment?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A Collective Investment is more, really, a "vehicle" than a portfolio -- so in short you could construct a portfolio in a myriad of ways -- Think of it this way, you may be familiar with mutual funds. Mutual funds invest in all kinds of things with all sorts of different portfolio construction strategies and methods. There are money market mutual funds and stock funds and other conservative to aggressive funds. A mutual fund is one way of setting up, legally, the form of the investment portfolio, not the strategy of the portfolio. This is also the case with Collective Investment (Funds), which are legally organized in a different manner than mutual funds or partnerships. hope that helps
