How many atoms are on one mole of MgCI?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To determine the number of atoms in one mole of MgCl2 (magnesium chloride), you can use Avogadro's number, which is approximately 6.022 x 10^23 atoms/molecules per mole.

First, you need to calculate the molar mass of MgCl2.

Magnesium (Mg) has an atomic mass of approximately 24.31 g/mol.

Chlorine (Cl) has an atomic mass of approximately 35.45 g/mol (rounded to two decimal places).

Now, add the atomic masses of one magnesium atom and two chlorine atoms to find the molar mass of MgCl2:

MgCl2 molar mass = (1 x Mg atomic mass) + (2 x Cl atomic mass)

MgCl2 molar mass = (1 x 24.31 g/mol) + (2 x 35.45 g/mol)

MgCl2 molar mass = 24.31 g/mol + 70.90 g/mol

MgCl2 molar mass = 95.21 g/mol

So, the molar mass of MgCl2 is approximately 95.21 g/mol.

Now, using Avogadro's number, you can calculate the number of atoms in one mole of MgCl2:

Number of atoms in 1 mole of MgCl2 = 6.022 x 10^23 atoms/molecules per mole

Now, divide this by the molar mass of MgCl2 (95.21 g/mol):

Number of atoms in 1 mole of MgCl2 = (6.022 x 10^23 atoms/mol) / (95.21 g/mol)

Number of atoms in 1 mole of MgCl2 ≈ 6.32 x 10^21 atoms

So, there are approximately 6.32 x 10^21 atoms in one mole of MgCl2.

Why does sodium bond with chlorine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The outer spare electron from the sodium atom goes over to the chlorine atom. The sodium ion now has a positive charge and the chloride ion now has a negative charge. The two oppositely-charge ions are electrostatically attracted and form an ionic bond.

Where does sulfur occur?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Sulphur has a very low abundance in earth's crust.

It is about 0.03-0.1% in earth's crust. It mainly exists in combined state primarily as sulphates such as Gypsum(CaSO4.2H2O), Epsom salt(MgSO4.7H2O), Baryte(BaSO4) and sulphides such as galena(PbS), Zinc Blende(ZnS), Copper Pyrites(CuFeS2) .

Traces of sulphur also occur as Hydrogen Sulphide in volcanoes.

Organic Materials such as eggs, proteins, garlic, onion, mustard, hair and wool also contain sulphur.

As for the places where sulphur is found, it exists in elemental form exist in salt domes along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, and in evaporites in eastern Europe and western Asia

Is there lead in metallic oxide?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

"Metallic oxide" could refer to many different chemicals. Of course if they are lead oxides, there will be lead in them. Ferrous oxide on the other hand, would not have lead, unless the lead were a contaminant.
