Benzodiazepines (BZD) are drugs used as tranquilizers, sedatives, anti-anxiety, hypnotics or muscle relaxants. Short- and intermediate-acting benzodiazepines are recommended for the treatment of insomnia, while longer-acting benzodiazepines are preferred for anxiety treatment.
