New crate 350 in 1992 Yukon idles rough when first started why?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are a few potential reasons for a rough idle on a new crate 350 engine in a 1992 Yukon. It could be due to issues with the fuel delivery system, such as clogged fuel injectors or a dirty air filter. It's also possible that there is a vacuum leak or a problem with the ignition system. Have a mechanic check these components to diagnose and fix the issue.

How to change the fuel pump on a 2003 Yukon?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Back your truck up on a set of ramps, if it will start. If the truck wont start use a jack to raise the back of the truck up. Put a floor jack or motorcycle jack under the gas tank. Then where the gas hose goes from the tank to the gas cap you will need to slide the hose clamps down the hose so you can disconnect the hoses. Raise the floor jack up under the fuel tank to hold it while you tack off the two straps that hold the tank. After you remove the straps, lower the tank enough to disconnect the two fuel lines and vent line. You will need a clamp release tool to disconnect the hoses. Last you need to disconnect the wires the supply power to the pump and fuel level. Lower the tank so you can pull the tank from under the truck. There is a lock ring that holed the pump to the tank , turn the ring until you can remove it. After you remove the ring the pump will pull out of the tank. The new pump will contain a new wiring harness that you will need to install. The directions to do this will be in the box with the new pump. All parts needed will come with the pump. Just put everything back in the reverse order you took it apart. This took me about 1 ½ hours to do from start to finish. Good Luck!

How do you release a parking brake with a broken release handle on a 1993 Chevrolet truck?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Best ways are if you can see exposed cable underneath the truck, go underneath and yank down on the cable as hard as you can. If the parking brake isn't needed or you just need to free the brake to move the truck and can go get it repaired if necessary, cut the cable back by the brake and the brake will release. Shouldnt cost more that 150 bucks to get a new e-brake installed.

Where is the oil filter on 2008 GMC Yukon?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Find the Engine Coolant tank on the front passenger side of the engine bay. Look straight down into the gap/space between the Engine Coolant tank and the main engine block. You will see a small tube-shaped oil filter sticking out from the bottom of the engine block area. On the 4.0L it is on the passenger side of the middle of the block. On the 4.7L it is on the driver side front of the engine.

Why does a 2001 GMC Yukon and idle at 200-500 RPM like it wants to turn off?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I found out with my Yukon that it needed a new IAC (Idle Air Control) Valve. The first timeit happened to me the dealership only cleaned it without replacing it, but it did it again, and I replaced it myself. Idles a great deal better now and doesn't sputter or idle down. Try that.

AnswerI own a 2001 Yukon Denali w/a 6.0 Litre. Basically the same problem. Believe it or not, fuel injector cleaners are not enough to correct this problem. Pull the air intake hose off the front of the throttle body & use spray THROTTLE BODY cleaner NOT CARB CLEANER. Works like a charm!! Drive for a couple days & repeat. This is a very common problem on all Yukon's & Tahoes..

Good Luck!!!

Thank you for the help I went with the Throttle body cleaner trick Worked like a charm gave me just enough rpm to keep the idle smooth and saved me alot of money for the Idle control valve

How do you replace the water pump on a 1999 gmc Yukon?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

need to know how to take fan off a 97 GMC 1500 truck to replace water pump

I've done this before it's not to tough! Start by removing the plastic fan grad between the engine and radiator. Drain coolant from the radiator, about 2 to 3 gallons, and keep it contained for possible reuse. Note it is a good idea to put some cardboard on the radiator to protect it from damage by wrenches falling, a pizza box unfolded flat works good. Remove the fan blade by using a big crescent wrench to grab that large hex nut between the fan blade and the water pump; hold on tightly to the fan belt on the pulley of the water pump as you jerk your wrench handle. One spin the fan off. Remove your fan belt- But 1st draw a diagram of the fan belt and how it connects to all the pulleys on the engine so you can put it back on. Unbolt the pulley wheel from the water pump. Put a bucket or pan under the water pump to catch more before you loosen all the bolts that hold it on the block. Once drained and unbolted remove the old pump. Scrape the engine clean at the 2 ports the pump bolts to. Use new gaskets and RTV Silicone glue on both faces of the gaskets. Bolt the new pump on your engine and reassemble all the rest in reverse order. Be sure to get the coolant level back up to Parr and before you go driving dabble check everything and let the engine idle for 10 minuets to check for leaks. Be safe and I hope this did the trick for you!

Depending on the year (01 and up) some don't have an IAC. It's built into the throttle body design to regulate the idle. If you have idle problems try cleaning the T body good.
