Well, he did declare war against the USA in the late 80's. His group that he made, and was the brains of, was called "Al-Qaeda." The reason for the declaration of war was unclear though. The US wasn't worried about him first, but then he became a bigger problem where he and his group took responsibility of the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers in The USA and other bombastic situations. That was when the US took him seriously, they tried to do everything to bring him to justice. They had 10 ways to kill Bin Laden, But they all failed. Here they are:

But now that President Obama, brought Bin Laden to justice in 2011, everyone seems to be happy. When he was dead, he was thrown off a plane into the ocean by the US. No country was taking him to their grounds and burring him, so he was thrown off a plane and into the ocean. When that was over, US forces discovered some home videos, and some interesting notes. He was planning to to do another 9/11 attack on the US, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

People like to point the finger and say what is evil and what is not. George W. Bush has been personally responsible for at least as many deaths as Osama Bin Laden so many people point the finger at Him and call him a villain. It's a relative term. If you believe that a man who masterminds a terrorist attack that kills nearly 3000 innocent people is a villain, then yes Bin Laden probably is a villain (for his role in the September 11, 2001 attacks in USA).
