Did Gail Davis have a love affair with Gene Autry?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes. One hot day Gene rode in on Champ. He was slumped over his saddle horn and Gail noticed from the porch. Running to the corral, she helped Gene down. With his arm around his shoulders, walking on jelly legs, Gail guided him into the house. Sitting him down, she immediately ran to start a hot Jacuzzi. Rejoining him a moment later, she undid his gun belt and took of his boots and socks. Then the proceeded to disrobe the stricken hero completely. Helping him up again, she walked Gene into the Jacuzzi room where she gently lowered him into the bubbling hot water. Catching the forlorn look in the cowboy's eyes, Gail stepped out of her own clothes and joined him. Thus, with Jacuzzi-love, Gail and Gene launched a long, legendary affair.

Autry became a US Army Air Force C-47 pilot. This was the military version of the Douglas DC-3. He flew as part of the airlift of supplies over "the hump" - the Himalayas - from Burma to China. This was dangerous duty over wild, uncharted territory and the world's tallest mountains. Many pilots who went down on this route are still missing.

Was Gene Autry a Pilot in World War 2?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

born in 1911 would have put him past the draft age maximum which was 27 in 1941.

Unlike John Wayne, Roy Rogers did, indeed, serve his country during WWII. He did join the Army Air Corp.

Congress, after Pearl Harbor passed a new Selective Service Act which removed restrictions and extended the draft to men aged 18-38 years of age (briefly to 45 years). All men between 18-65 had to register. The period of service was extended to 6 months after the end of the War. Over 10 million men were inducted under the terms of this Act until a new Selective Service Act was passed after the War (1948). Although he did not see any action he served his country well, entertaining troops and raising morale. Don't forget he was a rather huge box office star at the time.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, they never met.

There is a story that Elvis may have liked and owned a copy of ABBA's 'Mamma Mia' single, installing it on his private jukebox in 1976, but it is unconfirmed.

ABBA were, of course, great admirers of Elvis's music.

Did Gene Autry do all his own riding in his movies?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Most of the films in which Autrey appeared are "contemporary" in the sense that they are supposed to be taking place at the time the movie is released. We thus see 1930s & 1940s hair-styles, fashions, music, and transportation. So, in SOME films, automobiles definitely appear. During the film In Old Monterey , for example, a 1930s tank appears.
