He became famous after he defended the Parson's Cause which was the right of the Virginia colony to fix the price of tobacco. Henry earned his law license in 1760.
In 1765, Patrick Henry was elected to the House of Burgesses. He produced a solution to the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act made colonists put a stamp on every important document and had to be paid a tax for. Patrick Henry said the colonists had as much a right as the people in Britain to protest such an unfair tax. Henry was a great influencer and orator. He is known for the quote, "I know not what course others may take but as for me; give me liberty or give me death!" This convinced many people to fight in the revolution. Henry became the leader of a militia against Lord Dunmore because of an argument about gunpowder known as the Gunpowder Incident. He also became the first governor of Virginia.
In his later years, Patrick Henry became the fifth governor of Virginia again. He made speeches that helped the young United States. He was very helpful in creating this country because he made very persuading speeches that convinced many to people to rebel. Without Patrick Henry, we would have never had as many people fight in the American Revolution.

∙ 6y agoA Virginian (happens he was from my home county) He was one of the founding fathers of the US. He was remembered for his "Give me Liberty or give me death" speech to the Second Virginia Convention. He served as a delegate to the First and Second US Congress, was Governor of Virginia, and a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. He was also a pretty good lawyer.
