First dab the bite and rest it while someone else finds the nearest hospital. Then go to the hospital and if it's deep then you'll get stitches.

Cover the bite in Neosporin and then rap the bite.

Repeat that step every once in a while.

Keep away from water uless it's a shower.

after a dog bites you, wash the wound and bandage it. if its really bad, then go to the doctor.

Go to the emergency room. Get checked immediately. Find out if the dog had its immunization against rabies. Get treatment.

You should go see a doctor as soon as possible. As most of us know some dogs may have rabies which is a type of disease that can be passed on through the blood. Most domesticated dogs wont have rabies if they have had their vaccinations. But even if you are sure the dog has had vaccinations it is highly recommended that you check with a doctor as rabies can be quite harmful.

If a dog bites you first you must clean the wound. Next put healing cream on the wound. You then wrap it tightly with a cloth. Finally ask your Doctor if the dog had rabies, if it is infected, etc.....

If it broke the skin start by cleaning and disinfecting the area. If it was a wild dog or you live in an area where innoculations for pets is not a legal requirement you should consider going to your local hospital for a rabies booster. If it did not break the skin you are at much lower risk, but the area should still be disinfected.

pawpaws:

Depends on how bad it is. I have been bitten and never went to the hospital. They were just punctures. However, if the puncture is large you might need stitches. Make sure you clean it out with soap and water. Then apply rubbing alcohol to rid any infection and also apply a triple anti-biotic. Keep they area clean, use band-aids and also let the air dry it out from time to time.

if you have been bitten by a dog go to the hospital even if it has only punctured the scin a little then you might get a tetnis to beat any infection it might of gave you

you say aaaww and go inside and put some rubbing alcohol on it. It really helps!

After being bitten by a dog the first thing to do is to stop the bleeding. After that you need to wash the area with soap and water. Finally putting on an antibiotic will prevent infection.

Minor dog bites can be treated at home. The American Academy of Family Physicians recommends gently washing the wound with soap and water and then applying pressure to the injured area with a clean towel.
It depends on how big of a wound and where it is. For a general skin-broken bite, clean the wound thoroughly with soap and warm water and apply a dry sterile dressing. If is a very large wound, or on the face, go to your emergency department immediately, applying pressure to the wound with a clean towel. If the dog is unknown or the dog hasn't had vaccinations, it is recommended to go to your doctor for rabies testing/tetanus shots.

Take them to a doctor!

I agree, take them to a doctor, better yet the ER! What no antiseptic, just soap and water! Unbelievable!

The severity of a shark bite will dictate the treatment. Some shark bites, as in the case of smaller animals such as the swell shark (Cephaloscyllium ventriosum), horn shark (Heterodontus francisci), and leopard shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) may only require minor bleed control, dressings, a few stitches. Larger animals, however, as in the case of the Great White (Carcharodon carcharias), Tiger Shark (Galeocerdo cuvier), and Bull Shark (Carcharhinus leucas) may call for multi-system trauma treatment protocols. In essence, each bite is going to be different and call for a different set of treatments based on established field emergency medical practices.

Here are a few general guidelines that can be followed in any shark bite situation:

  • Try to identify the animal. Different sharks have different ways of biting. The Great White, for instance, is an ambush predator, hitting its prey hard and fast from below and waiting for it to bleed to death. Look for large, "tearing" wounds and anticipate broken bones. The Tiger Shark, on the other hand, is more subtle, gradually approaching the victim and usually aiming for exposed limbs. Anticipate amputations and medium to large "chunks" of absent tissue. Knowing the shark helps with the overall assessment and let's you know what to expect.
  • Ensure that the victim has an adequate airway, is breathing, and has a pulse. Control all major bleeding using a combination of direct pressure, elevation, pressure points, and (if necessary) a tourniquet. Initiate CPR as needed.
  • Do not replace eviscerated organs (organs that have been torn out of the body). Keep them covered, moist, and as sterile as possible.
  • Keep amputated limbs clean, wrapped in bandages, and on ice if possible. The hospital may be able to reattach them.
  • Keep the victim calm. In the case of a severe injury, they will almost certainly go into shock. It is imperative that they be kept as still and as relaxed as possible. Lay them on their back, cover their body with a blanket and elevate their legs if possible.
  • ALWAYS seek medical attention for a shark bite. Contact the local lifeguard or emergency medical services (where available) or seek the nearest emergency room.

These are just a few VERY BASIC guidelines for treating a shark bite. Medical care should always be rendered by a professional and everyone should have at least some form of basic first aid training before venturing into the water. Preparedness can really mean the difference between life and death/disfigurement in the case of moderate to severe shark attacks.

Your physician will wash the wound with betadine (povidone iodine) scrub and clean with sterile cotton swab. Then he will give you anti-rabies vaccine shots on day 0, 3, 7, 14 and 28. The one on day 90 is optional.

Y'mean....getting bitten by a human? *laughs at the situation*

You should probably put ice on it, if its really bad.

If you bled, just clean it out with water (cold) and put a bandaid on it or something.

If its really that bad, get a frozen bag of peas from the freezer and use it as an ice pack. (But wrap it in something first so it doesnt stick to your arm).

Hope that helped! ;P *still laughing at the situation*

First, make sure the site is secure and safe, and that the canine does not present a threat to responders.

Next, control bleeding.

Then assess the wound as best you can in the field. Depending on circumstances, I might flush with normal saline.

Wrap the wound and direct to medical facility. Any such wound will require an up to date tetanus shot. More, any bite wound is an infection risk, and prophylactic antibiotics should be considered.

The decision to transport or direct to a facility depends on the extent of the wound and if it requires sutures, etc.

That's the formal answer. Informally, minor bites that haven't done significant damage can be handled with soap and water, and keeping the wound clean. In this case, you should be sure the dog is up on her shots.

Wash the area with soap and warm water. Pat dry. Apply A&D or over-the-counter antibacterial ointment and let it be.

If it becomes red, warm to the touch, or swollen, see your doctor because it could be infected.

Note: A scratch near the eyes, mouth/lips, or near the nostrils should be checked by a doctor, especially for a young child.

How does a vet treat a cat bite to a dog?

A cat bite on a dog is treated by a vet according to the severity of the bite. The dog could only require the wound to be cleaned. The vet may prescribe antibiotics as a precaution to prevent any related illnesses that may occur. Normally a dog would not require stitches from a cat bite. The vet would determine the medical needs of the dog.

Is cat Bite dangerous?

Not unless the dog had rabies or the bite was to a fatal spot, such as the neck. Also be aware that a dog bite to a cat can cause an internal infection. The bite may not fester or abcess on the skin, but the infection could become systemic internally. I know this as my beloved cat died this morning after being diagnosed by a veterinarian that a healed bite punctured her lung and introduced bacteria. If your cat loses weight, is not as playful, and more lethargic following a dog bite--even weeks after the fact, there may be an internal infection that is deadly without early treatment.
