Actually, yes; however, this will not make a SIGNIFICANT difference. The battery is very slowly drained all of the time that it is in the camera. Therefore, your best battery performance will be seen when the battery is removed between uses.
One must balance this benefit, however, with wearing out the battery tray. If you're constantly taking out the battery, it's bound to wear things out a bit more. Personally, I don't remove the battery for this reason.
