The job of mitosis is to perform cell division. There are four main steps for mitosis: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase and Telophase. Mitosis is used for the growth of the cell, as well as to replace injured cells, such as skin cells, after an accident. It is also used for the maintenance of one's chromosomal set. _Laura_
