The Royal Mint in the UK

All US bills are printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing at facilities in Washington and Fort Worth.

Regardless of internet rumors, urban legends, and even popular movies ("Who's Minding the Mint?") the US Mint does NOT print bills. They're a completely separate part of the Treasury Department and only make coins.

The Federal Government has the only authority to print US currency. If you are wondering if the President has the say it is Congress. But if the FEDs feel like printing they usually let us know if we need it then there is a vote or understanding. Untimely only they print.

The Department of the Treasury is in charge of the money supply. Most of the money they create is never printed or coined; since large transactions these days are done through either electronic funds transfer or by check, they don't need to print a lot of money. OTOH, sometimes you really need physical money, and it comes from two places. Paper currency, plus government bonds and other high-security paper, comes from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Coinage comes from the US Mint.
