Given around 20% of the US population are atheist or agnostic, there must have been. However, it's very unusual for a US politician to openly describe themselves as a atheist.

Bernie Sanders is Junior Senator and he is probably the closest thing to an openly atheist senator at the moment.

Pete Stark (D-CA) is the first openly atheist member of Congress. Stark acknowledged his Atheism in response to an SCA questionnaire in 2007. The American Humanist Association named him their 2008 Humanist of the Year.

You can be sure that there have been -- and will continue to be -- atheists in The Senate and The House. Most simply do not admit it due to political or social pressure.
