a/c clutch. same thing happened to my 96 vulcan taurus, replaced the a/c clutch and it fixed the problem
If it just lasts for 1 or 2 seconds, it is the clutch plates ratteling and not to worry.
It is very possible that the throttle plate is dirty and causing the throttle to hang up.
Abrupt means sudden or unexpected. A throttle is the device that controls the flow of fuel which also controls the speed. Abrupt throttle is the term given to a sudden or unexpected change in the throttle power, usually causing a halt.
Sounds like the throttle sensor, throttle body needs to be replaced.

This is because of rabbits communicating.
The expedition door lock relay could be stuck causing the grinding noise. Check to insure that the lock relay is working properly.
Most probably the driveshaft(s) or the axles are worn. Get them checked.
Carbon is built up in the throttle body causing it to stick. Go to parts store and purchase throttle body cleaner. Take off plastic breather connecting to throttle body and spray in side the throttle body.

The starter drive gear will be too close to the flywheel, causing a grinding noise when the starter is engaged.
