The answer is no.

Religious fanatics tend to get overexcited about their particular religion, and many go on mass murder/ethnic cleansing rampages, killing innocent people. More have died in human history at the hands of and in the name of Religion.

Atheists don't hate religion, they just choose not to participate.

Not all communists are Atheists, just like not all communists are short. The thing about Atheism is, nothing can be done in "its" name. Atheism is the absence of belief in any deity or mythology. Should a tall person kill someone, he doesn't do so in the name of all tall people. He's simply killing someone due to a personal motive.

North American Religious peoples enjoy pointing the finger siting communism simply to vindicate themselves. The sad truth is, people kill for all sorts of reasons. The hypocrisy of religious fanatics killing people is typically what questions like yours are trying to Dodge.

"This question cannot be answered in a more complete way. It has no common context. It would be like asking, are janitors atheists, or are grocery clerks atheists? Or, even, what does blue taste like? There is no commonality for either concept beyond their mutual existence in the world.

Communism is an economic (and political) perspective. Atheism deals directly with theology or "atheology" as the case may be. While Leninistic/Stalinistic/Maoist communism typically precludes religious organizations from legal existence, it is more for political purposes than theological ones. Churches have power over the people. The two major communistic governments of the world sought to remove power from all but the state. Hence the erradication of religious groups. Keep in mind however that the Greek Orthodox church continued to exist in some form during the entire reign of Soviet Communism, and although it was repressed so does Buddhism in China. "

If you should ask a religious person this question, they will most likely cite a couple of bad people that committed genocide as their smug answer. But, according to the christian faith, their god wiped humanity off the face of the earth to start over. So, add that to the Spanish Inquisition, Crusades, Bosnia, Somalia and any other "My God Hates the same people I do so I can kill 'em" instance.Ultimately, we can all agree that bad things have been done under the guise of religion. We can also agree that people following no religion have also done bad things.Questions like this will have no true answer.Be well and have faith in yourself.

No. Atheists in Communist China, Russia, Vietnam, Korea, and Nazi Germany have killed more people than anything else. Jews, Christians and other people whose religion advocates "love thy neighbor as thyself", and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" have done their best to help others. It was Christians inspired by William Wilberforce and Capt. John Newton who helped to bring an end to slavery in much of the world. The Red Cross does its best to help people during wars. It's a commonly held belief that religion leads to wars. There were war before people believed in God, and some of the worse offenders of man's inhumanity to man have been atheists who have no God inspired compassion for their fellow human beings. The Communist Chinese murdered tens of millions of people, and Nazi Germany also murdered in tens of millions. Religion is not perfect, but, it is far better than the alternative, which does not have respect the 10 Commandments of Moses.

What is the name of the religion which is followed by maximum majority in the world?

A:There are now 7 billion people in the world. No one religion can claim more than half this number as members. Even Christianity's claim to have over 2 billion adherents appears to include a large number of atheists and nominal adherents.

How many people are in each religion?

Nobody knows because more and more people keep growing into all the religions.

What is the Dutches religion?

To begin with, dutch does not have a plural nor a possessive form. It's always 'dutch' The majority of the dutch have, suprisingly, no religion at all. 48.4% are atheists. The biggest religion is Christian, with approximately 43.7% of which 27% are Roman-Catholic and 15.7% are Protestant. The second largest religion is the Islam, with approximately 5.7% Hindoeism and Boedhism have a shared third with 1% and 0.3% is Jewish. Ofcourse there are more than enough other religions in the Netherlands, but these are the largest ones.

What is it called when you are able to choose who you worship?

Being able to choose what or whom you worship is called freedom of religion. An atheist is a person who doesn't believe in God or religion, and that is a choice also. Atheists usually believe in the scientific origin of life rather than creation by God. In free countries that are not controlled by one particular religious group, most people, once they grow up, are able to choose who they want to and will worship. For example, if you grew up Catholic, once you were legally of adult age and understood religion more, you could convert to being a Protestant or join some other religion.

How religion can be both a unifying and a dividing force?

When a group of people all believe in the same religion, that unifies them. When two or more groups of people each believe in different religions, that divides them.

It is not a religion. It is more like a political belief. In fact, communists are often atheists.

What encourages people more atheism or religion?

Many people find comfort or encouragement from religion. Sadly, many other people are encouraged by their religion to hurt other people, and this can be seen in every country of the world today - from the Westboro Baptists Church to Israeli Settlers and suicide bombers. Atheism doesn't encourage people: atheists get their encouragement from other sources, such as friends and family. Some atheists liken the encouragement of religion as the kind of encouragement which children get from their imagionary friends.

Why do people hate other people when they are atheist?

Is this a serious question? 70% of philosophers (often philosophers are ethicists) are atheist, buddhists are atheistic, babies are atheist, many many scientists who work to make life better for the rest of the world are atheists, many physicists, biologists, especially psychologists, and anthropologists, many many many people are atheist. Scientists, doctors, people who do things selflessly not selfishly are atheists. They work long hours and try to make it a better place for people to live. I'm an atheist and right now I am typing this from a Malaria laboratory @ Johns Hopkins. Now, let's get it clear that there are some atheists who like religion, some atheists who don't care about religion, and some atheists who dislike religion. Most atheists don't care about religion and are 'live and let live' kind of people. Personally, I think some religion is good, and some is bad. I find it that many religious people get upset when religion is on the table and being criticized. I think it is because their faith is not very strong. Religion has a lot to be criticized for, especially the big ones, be it doctrine, indoctrination of children, the fact that it MUST be believed or else, morals of religion and how it contradicts normal morals. Blood sacrifices, arguing over it, and just plain old weird stories, etc. Atheists who are angry at religion most often come from religious households, and since religion does not want to be questioned most of the time, these types of atheists generally feel that religion has a stronghold on our culture and an oppressive feel to it. The spokespeople for religion are often the worse because of the radicalness of the books themselves. Some of these people have mental problems, and some are normal, but just radical, and transfer their radical viewpoints to their congregations. The facts are: THE LOUDEST AMONG THEM WILL GET THE MOST ATTENTION. Atheists dislike all the bad things that come from religion, and since religious people don't like criticizing their own religions publically, you will find more atheists doing so.

Are atheists more likely to be Democrats?

Yes, because Democrats are more tolerant of differences and the protection of civil liberties, including the liberty to choose your religion or no religion. Anybody can join the Democratic Party and people who are persecuted for their differences are more likely to become a member of the party that welcomes them rather than the party of their tormentors. However, this is not to say that there are no atheists in the Republican Party. The focus of the Republican Party is on individual financial liberty and this could appeal to atheists who are financially successful in life.

Why do atheists attack the lies of organized religion and not provide answers to everyday people like raising good and moral children which is why people turn to religion as they look for answers?

Just as there are many varieties of religion, there also exists more than one form of atheism. There do exist atheists who wish to present a moral system that can be used as an alternative to religious morality. The atheistic moral system is known as secular humanism.

What are three sentences for the word atheists?

Atheists are people who do not believe in religion. The atheists were the most calm and rational people involved in the debate.Studies find that atheists are generally happier and more successful than those who follow Christianity.

What percent of atheists revert to Christianity?

Revert is the wrong word in this case. We are all atheists at birth. Religion is a learned behavior and children are indoctrinated into the religion of their parents. Your question illustrates the arrogance of religiosity. While some atheists may adopt religious beliefs there are more than Christianity to choose from. In any case, there are no statistics.

What will happen if religion is gone one day?

Religion as a set of beliefs will stay as long as there are people on this planet. Contrary to what others claim, even atheists have a religion - the belief that there is no God for them to be accountable to. Hence, atheists believe that there is just nature and the material world around them. Religion can not be blotted out from the human race. Ever wondered if other living things like dogs and cats have religion? Isn't it amazing why only the human race have religion compared to the animals in this planet? Once religion is gone, then there are only animals in this planet - no more humans.

What are the beliefs in Western Europe?

The largest religion in Western Europe is Catholicism, which is the largest branch of Christianity. However, the fastest growing "religion" in Western Europe is no religion, as more and more Europeans in general are becoming unaffiliated or recognized Atheists.

Why is Islam so violent toward the US?

it is not Islam which is violent towards the USA, although it is the Taliban and they are Muslims. They are called extremists as they take Islam to the extreme. In Islam we are taught to care and be kind to all religions even atheists. The thing which strikes me is that some people think a group of people who are in the same religion fighting ,means the whole religion is with them. Even the Taliban for example! The Taliban have killed more Muslims and Afghans then anyone else!

Is Judaism decreasing or increasing?
