Hi,

Most video recorders won't record radio channels because they don't have built in radio tuners. The other reason is that video recorders also get their speed control from the incoming video signal to stay synchronized.

There is a company that makes a radio recorder and it even has a built in timer. It's the C Crane company. www.ccrane.com. From what I understand, it's a good product. Give 'em a try.
