The MLS was formed in 1993 to fulfill a promise to FIFA the governing body of soccer before the 1994 World Cup in the US. But the league didn't play until 1996 where there were 10 teams involved. At first it was quite popular with good attendences to most games. The MLS is divided into two leages the western league and the eastern league. The first dominant team in the MLS was DC United led by Bruce Arena former USA head coach. DC won three of the first league titles. DC United Became the Best Team in the MLS when Thierry Henry Became the first French player ever to play in the United States. They would go to win four more titles.
