The Zygomycota are known as zygomycetes and reproduce sexually. Black bread mold (Rhizopus stolonifer) is a common species that belongs to this group. Another is Pilobolus, which shoots specialized structures through the air for several meters.

The reproduction of fungi not like most micro-organisms they can both sexually or asexually reproduce depending on their type. It is not a set process like bacteria (i.e. binary fusion) or cells (i.e. mitosis). It varies depending on the type of fungi...

Asexual Reproduction: Asexual reproduction via vegetative spores (conidia) or through mycelial fragmentation is common; it maintains clonal populations adapted to a specific niche, and allows more rapid dispersal than sexual reproduction.

Sexual Reproduction: In sexually reproducing fungi, compatible individuals may combine by fusing their hyphae together into an interconnected network; this process, anastomosis, is required for the initiation of the sexual cycle. Ascomycetes and basidiomycetes go through a dikaryotic stage, in which the nuclei inherited from the two parents do not combine immediately after cell fusion, but remain separate in the hyphal cells

Spore Dispersal: Both asexual and sexual spores or sporangiospores are often actively dispersed by forcible ejection from their reproductive structures. This ejection ensures exit of the spores from the reproductive structures as well as travelling through the air over long distances.
