It is a typical tradition these days in Japan to build flexible houses and tall buildings.

A flexible house may sway a bit and depending on the height of the house/building one can add certain movable counterweights at top.

It is proven all over the world that typical brick buildings crumble and fall down during a strong earthquake, where as a flexible building will sway but not fall down.
