my answer is not perfect but if you have a pet bird and want it to live a healthy life, i would ugjest these because i have 4 birds

1.) your bird will want to live in a clean enviorment. which means you will have to clean its cage at loeast once a week. try not to use harmful chemicals such as clorax or windex. water is best. if you do not clean the cage your bird will live an unhealthy life and the cage will atract flies

2.) make sure you feed your bird once a day. the person that you buy your bird from should tell you the food it needs. normally birds eat dries fruit and nuts. you also want to give them water once a day too.

3.) you wanna get a good realationship with your bird so you might wanna take it out of its cage and play with it. that also helps if your bird bites if you play with it, it will start to trust you. signs that the bird is not happy(depression) is when you see the bird pulling its feather off. that means it wants some one to play with so you should play with it.

4.) you also want to make sure that once a month you want to get your birds wings and nails clipped. if you get your birds nails clipped it wont scratch you as much. if you get your birds wing clipped the bird wont be able to fly(which is good because you do not want your bird to fly away from you)

those are all you need to know to take care of a bird. it may seem simple but it is really not. if there is anything else that you need to know about your bird. i guarantee that the local bird store will let you know.

A lovebird should have a cage size minimum of 18 inches square, or 24 inches square if it is for a pair. Bar spacing should be no bigger than 1/2 inch apart. Contrary to popular belief, these animals CAN live singly, as long as they receive attention from their owner daily. The paper on the cage bottom should be changed daily, and droppings should be examined daily to ensure consistency. Change in appearance is an indicator of disease, and these animals will hide until close to death, so careful observance is crucial. Other indicators that a lovebird should see a vet are changes in behavior and eating. Their diet should be varied, including a pelleted diet and fresh fruits and vegetables daily. A pure seed or pure pelleted diet leads to many types of disease, including death. Foods that should be avoided due to toxic reactions are avocado, rhubarb, chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, and anything that is high in salt or sugar. Try to find a pelleted diet that is absent of, or has low amounts of, corn, wheat, rice and soy. These are not easily processed by birds, and can contribute to problems. Avizon is a good pellet for birds, as it is high in fruit, vegetable, herb, and seed ingredients, and low in the realm of wheat, corn, soy or rice. A seed based diet is not recommended because birds will pick out their favorites and ignore the rest, causing many problems. Keep the seed content of the diet to no more than 15%. About 40% should consist of pellets, and the rest of mostly vegetables with a small amount of fruit. Toys are a requirement for any bird, not optional. 3 or 4 in the cage at a time is optimal, no less, but be sure not to overwhelm the animal with too many toys. Your best bet is to buy a variety, and change them out every few days, to give them lots of different options. Make sure that the toys include something they can chew on such as wood, because their beaks will become overgrown otherwise. Perches of the right type and size are very important. The perch itself should be of varying texture and circumference, to maintain good foot health. Uniform, smooth perches such as those made of plastic or dowel are not recommended, they can cause foot sores. Manzanita and other natural wood perches that are available at your pet store are a good way to go. Do not bring your own branches in, because you will not know if the wood is acceptable, if it's infested, or has been sprayed with pesticides, or possibly been urinated on by other animals. The perch should be big enough that the birds toes wrap about 3/4 of the way around it. Social interaction is very important for these birds, so make sure they receive a minimum of 45 minutes outside of the cage playing with you every day, or alternatively, have another lovebird to play with. Good luck with your pet!

Feed it , give it water and make sure it has something like a toy to chew on. They need toys so that their beak doesnt get sharp. other than that teach it cool tricks.

cloekoko: you neede to feed it a variety of fruits and veggies, search up poisonus foods such as chocolate and avacado. change water daily and give a cuttle bone for their beaks. trim wings(go to vet or learn how to properly) so they can glide but not fly and trim claws(got to vet or learn how to properly) so its not too long and sharp. give toys to keep it entertained.
