P Waves, or primary waves, move through both solids and liquids. When traveling through solids, P-Waves move fast through dense solids and slower through less dense solids. They move in a compression motion, much like a slinky would.
P-Waves are noticed first because they travel faster than S Waves.

primary
The energy of a wave moves forward with the wave. A wave is moving energy, and the wave carries it in the direction of propagation.
Surface Waves
the biggest wave is a pwave or primary wave
the Chianti wave
p-waves which is primary waves
This is a longitudinal wave or a P-wave (primary wave), called so because it travels faster than a transverse wave, which moves at right angles to the direction the wave travels.
face to be felt on earth's surface
P or Primary waves are longitudinal waves that move rock particles back and forth in the same direction that the wave travels.
Such a wave is called a longitudinal wave.
Energy moves forward in a wave.

the upper part of the wave moves faster
Water moves up and down as the wave moves horizontally. The website below has examples of transverse waves.
The fastest seismic wave that also moves back and forth is the P-wave.
